If you're interested in the history of Birmingham, al we have Vulcan Statue. He was modeled after the god Hephaestus and symbolizes growth. He represents Birmingham's success. They also have a museum where you can learn more about Birmingham's history, and how Vulcan was built and restored. You can also go up the tower Vulcan stands on and get a great view of the city. A long time ago you could go all the way up to the statue, but I guess since he's so old they won't let you get that close anymore. The balcony is now a good 30 or 40 feet lower than the statue.
the rcmp training facilities and forensic labs are down the road from my house... its kind of an interesting place to check out north central regina is a trip, i would recommend driving through there (doors locked of course) we have some decent lakes/beaches/parks but they're nothing overly special in comparison to other parts of the world
Nowhere because it's so freaking boring where I live! Although, there's an art museum that's pretty sweet. Which reminds me, I want to go there again soon. I promised the kids a while ago that we'd go there again, and I forgot! There's a lot of points of interest further off from me, an hour or so, but right smack where I am, not much.
smokey joes, a bar in ft. collins. great music on a friday and saturday night. you have to get there before the line of overdressed hip kids show up to meat market themselves and look uncomfortably outta place and annoyed by the music that doesn't really go with ass shaking with a look on their face that says "why is this place popular? no one's doing belly shots." always a good time.
If you were to come here, there are some really nice Irish pubs scattered throughout the area that I would highly suggest going too...if not, this area has some really old towns and landmarks, if you're into history and all that jazz
What an interesting and wonderful post! If you came to my lil town.. why, Im just not too sure where I'd take ya! I suppose we'd go for a drive and enjoy the beauty of the countryside. Theres a few old covered bridges to check out and a haunted bridge I love to chill at. : ) Not a whole lot of excitement.. but I do love nature.
There is a county in Indiana that's supposed to have the most covered bridges of anywhere in the U.S.
ahaha you sound like my neighbor... he's always out there shooting at them! ..... i think he might be eating them too...
Hmm well about a five minute drive from my place is this large hill that you can stand on that will show you a clear view of Perth. It's stunning during the night, you can see all the Perth lights. Every new year's eve there's a Rodeo (depends on how you define fun) I'm not really that close to Perth, but you have Kings Park, Whiteman Park, Rottnest Island, the Swan Valley (oldest wine growing region in WA), Margaret River, Adventure World... Freo is a great place too - brilliant markets and op (thrift) stores. You can take tours around the old Fremantle Prison too. There's some great history in there, it was closed in 1988 after the freo prison riot.
there are lotsa things to see and do around here and within a hours drive of here. whitewater rafting on the ocoee (site of the olympics),rock city and ruby falls in chattanooga, lake conasauga (highest lake in georgia),fort mountain state park (site of ancient ruins),daholenga gold museum and tourist trap (site of the first gold rush in america ),sugar creek or woodstock speedways (dirt track racing at its finest),world renowned antique shopping in every town around here, the apple orchards in season, the tate marble museum. thats just a partial list. there is so much to see and do around here there is simply to much to list.
Downown Fort Collins of course. This is the number two best place to live according to Money magazine. 2 years ago it was the number 1 best place to live. Place is awesome. I recommend it to anybody.
then there's the outdoors, of course. but i'm a people watcher. i like people. people are fun. the last time i went out i was hanging out in front of the bar having a smoke with this guy who looked like a rockstar, was obviously INCREDIBLY popular with the overdressed kids (read: drug dealer) who kept telling me of his heartbreak that the women he actually wants to go home with aren't the "hot chicks." his best buddy was TRIPPIN BALLS, bad.
