Television!!!!

im bored and i this idea for a thread just came to me im sure its probably came up before but i just wanted to make my own. i have a few questions about what everyone watches on TV. i dont mean movies either just tv shows or other stuff that you watch on TV.

do you follow any shows as they come out new?
what all do you watch on TV in your free time?
how much time do you spend watching tv?

well the only show that i keep up with when it comes on new is Stargate Atlantis. i also watch star trek voyager and the other newer star treks on occasion but nothing to regular. most of the time my TV in my room is on vh1 so i watch that i love new york 2 a little bit and that other show called americas most smartest model. the main reason i leave it on vh1 is because theres alot of music videos on late at night. other then that i watch some other shows on MTV like pimp my ride and sometimes i watch made if its a cool one.

 

i hate tv, i hate the brainwashing ads, the ones that constanly repeat the same shit, i hate how theres rarely something really good on. i just go to sites where i decide what i want to watch or download, with no ads.

 

Well I don't have cable right now so my favorite shows are what come on prime time like Survivor, Kid Nation, Life, Bionic Woman, SUV. Just those shows to pass the time.

But I also watch The young and the restless soap every day, and when I did have cable I watched the foodnetwork constantly All cooking shows.

I'm not a big tv person. I'd rather use tv as a last resort. Except for the few shows that I have to watch.

 

Every tuesday night I watch Boston Legal which is fuckin hilarious, espeically as you get to understand teh character developments. I follow Dexter religiously. I really like 2.5 men with charlie sheen. I sometimes will catch new episodes if i think about it, but reruns are good too. I have some sort of sports on in the evenings but i keep the volume off and listen to concerts on the surround sound. If I'm not listening to shows during the day, I'll watch political commentary/news.

 

yea im not really to huge into tv just a few shows. that reminds me i havnt been watching bionic women but the first few that i watched when it came out were pretty good. also i forgot to mention like dirty jobs and bizzare foods are ones my mom watches so i watch them sometimes. also sometimes i watch how its made but nothing regularly.

i know what you mean mr.green by all the stupid ass commercials. usually if i have a show that i really want to watch i set it to record on the DVR in the living room. then later i can just go back and watch it and fast forward through all of the dumb commercials.

 

totally agree. in a way I have kind of a sick fascination with it, and actually watch it a lot (albeit less than most). there's just something funny to me about people sitting quietly in front of a screen, watching vapid and mindless messages flicker across. then they buy what the television has told them to purchase afterwards.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, mind expanding drugs and informercials will teach you much about society.

 

Yea plus it hasn't been on for a couple week too. Could it be the writers strike?

It's good, but if I miss a show I'm not upset.

 

i dont watch tv. i don't really like it. i'll watch movies or somethin on the tv.

i have a pretty good movie collection too. i don't have time to schedule my life around tv and i could care less about MTV and shit.

 

I watched TV for the first time since august the other day I fell asleep from the boredom. like mr. greenexxx said it was full of brain washing ads, none of which have changed from the same old bullshit from 4 months ago. In my opinion TV is a complete waste of time.

 

remember when MTV was actually music television? do they play videos at all anymore

 

did you mean that bionic women show?? if you did im not really to mad at myself for missing it either. i wouldnt say that i plan to watch anything i just find something kind of cool to watch and have it on in the background while im doing something else. like when im on here my tv is on behind be so its kinda hard to watch that and do shit on here at the same time.

i also have a good movie collection and im getting more all the time. in fact im thinking about watching the bourne ultimatum or that new harry potter movie that just came out. i just dont find movies to be as fun to watch unless im watching them with a friend so i have someone to chill out with and smoke some bud.

 

Omg man. I watch Boston Legal all the time. I love that show. I recently got into dexter, and watched both seasons via torrent, and two and a half men is amazing as well. I also love the big bang theory.

 

yea regular mtv and vh1 dont play videos till late at night and thats what i usually fall asleep to. i have mtv 2 and some other music video channels out in the living room. i cant get them in my room thought because i dont have a box in here. so all i got in my room is expanded basic. thats all i really need because i dont really watch it i just listen to it. i like seeing the videos to songs that i hear all the time on XM when im driving around.

 

i just looked up dexter and it sounds like a pretty good show from what i just skimed through. i sometimes watch CSI but only when theres nothing else on. it seems like when them kind of shows they hook you in so you want to see how everything happened. dexter sounds like one of them shows where when you start watching it hooks you in so you need to watch the end of it.

 

Denny krane is my hero. and then I saw Shatner do a WoW commercial today and laughed my testicles off. I don't purchase Shotime so i too rely on torrent services for my Dexter Morgan fix. I've got the season finale sitting right here...i was going to wait until i was done with school on friday but i'm sure it'll get put on tonight. I also have gotten the books for X-mas so i can read them on the vacation.

haha yea and the guy just looks so goofy from what ive looked at. ill prolly check out some torrents here in a while. i have shotime so ill see if i can schedual it to record here when it comes on next.

 

if you have digital cable, its always on demand.

 

Yea, I also torrented weeds when it was on since we only have starz, encore, and hbo.

 

haha yea i got the on demand with the moxi dvr through charter. i never really use it or watch the movie channels because they are always old movies. we just have it in the package we are getting so thats the only reason we got it.
