There have been a few threads here mentioning tattoos, but not one dedicated to them. So here it is Anybody want to share their opinions of tattoos? Anyone have a tattoo? Or something they're interested in having done as a tattoo? An interesting one I've remember seeing was one of those barbed wire types that wraps all the way around the upper arm, but this one was binary code. What did the binary translate to? "barbedwire" I've been thinking about a tattoo for a while. I had an idea tonight; a bar from some piece of music. First thoughts were the first bar of Moonlight Sonata or some part of Journey Of The Sorcerer (me? geek? never ). I'd be shit scared of the artist making a mistake and flubbing a note, though
You'd probrably squeal in pain I got one.. Just a tiny one.. I wouldn't have any more than that .. It'll get too tacky
I've got one on the back of my right shoulder, the yin-yang with a star behind it... kinda hard to explain. And there it didn't hurt me at all -honest! It just was irritating because it was an annoying tickling..
Well as the sig says! I spent 43 years of my life saying "I'd never do that, they will be so sorry some day" Now, Hahahhahahhahahahaha - look at me! Never say never!
I'd quite like to have a plan of the A12 services just outside Ipswich done on my left elbow. Just in case the distance between the Toys R Us and the Welcome Break comes up in conversation, the tattoo can be used as a reference. Underneath I'd probably have written, "This tattoo is probably more interesting than me".
For me, tattoos should be something personal to you. If you want to spend your money getting an anchor or a football shirt or a giant lobster holding a flag with the names of your children written on it then fine...but i think it should be something that looks nice, but only you really know what it means... i have loads of ideas for tattoos. but whenever i have money i never seem to go to the place to get them done but i do want them doing at some point... at the moment i want... The flaming T00L eye from the lateralus cover on my right wrist. A string of squares up my right arm drawn in like polaroids. Whenever something huge happens in my life, i'll get the date or a small symbolic picture tattooed inside the picture bit. A line of circles that gets larger joined with one line up my left arm. A spiral over my heart. they're the only ones i've come up with so far...i'm sure i'll come up with more...
My friend has that in the centre of his chest. I've seen photos of it being done, and it looked sooooo painful! They had to stop in the middle of it to give him a lolly, heh. It's all pretty and colourful though, so it was worth it. I watched a guy get 'HATE' tattooed on his tongue. The artist had never done one on a tongue before and it came off about a day later, so he got his fiver back. I want cello f-holes on my back (you've probably seen the photoshopped picture), but I have no idea how much it's going to cost. They're not going to be that big, so does anyone have any idea of a ballpark figure?
I want a big Dali painting of the elephants on my arm or my back then it's legs would coil around my arm to form an eye near my wrist...
Why does that matter? Because of the pain factor or because the elephant would wrap around your arm too many times? Eep I'm lost!
argh i like tatoos, they can be wonderful, but this jsut reminded me that a load of my ex-friendship group went off the other week to all have identical tatoos. grrrrr! sorry, that just makes me mad!
As far as pain goes, it depends on your pain threshold. I thought I was a real wimpy type, but when I was getting my tatoo done, it felt soooooooo good. Kinda like an intense massage. Man, I coulda like had an orgasm there and then!
Hokay, opinions kiddies - shall I get it? I think I'm going to bite the bullet and have it done at the end of summer, just after Leeds festival (cashflow situation allowing - how much do you think it'd cost?) I've wanted this for aaaaages now, so I know I'm not going to change my mind. Plus, when I'm 90, people won't be looking at my back, unless I need a spongebath, heh.
