hey all, im just trying to get my shit together and realized i need a tarp.. what kind of tarp do you reccomend for minimalist wilderness camping? and where did you get yours?
They don't come off on very different styles so I guess it all depends on how much spaces you would want and what way you would "build" your shelter with your tarp (like during windy day). For a single person, normal one would do the trick for a short period camp. But I've been spending some times into the wild and 2 normal-big tarps make cool camp so you can put your stuff inside and be able to have some activity inside. It all depends on what, where, when. They are cheap so don't mind about it, just go experiment.
Oh and by the way, they rip off very easily, so be sure to have some duct tape in your backpack (anyways it's good in many situations). Since you are from Canada, you could find them at Canadian Tire, or any shops of that kind. They turn around 18 bucks. I don't think they sell tarp made specially for primitive camping, but I guess your best bet is looking for the strongest one.
for minimalist camping, i would just go to my local hardware or big chain of whatever n get the tarp.. they are only a few bux for a 10x12 one of the normal sort. If you want a heavier duty one, they also have them. I do not see the point in goin all out n spendin crazy cash on something that is more for pleasure type trips than surviving in the woods year round..... just my 2 cents
