I really want to see a Sumo match live (I've only seen it on TV) but they only come around to my prefecture (Yamanshi) every couple of years. I might just go to Tokyo to see one, I heard that it's really hard to get tickets though.
The garbagetruck Konishki! (That's the only one I remember from when I used to watch late night Sumo when I was 10ish ) Oh...and Masaito Kaki Hara... Because "Masait" means truck in Hebrew... and Kaki means shit. and Hara also means shit. So it's truck shit shit.
It does tend to be popular, but you can usually get tickets for Ryogoku, not necessarily good ringside seats, but a seat nonetheless!
When I was in Utsunomiya I saw some Sumo wrestlers making mochi. I didn't see any matches though... it's not really something that interests me.
I often run into Sumo wrestlers in Osaka when they have Osaka-Basho(Osaka tournament). Stronger wrestlers dont use usual transportation like trains/buses, cuz they have their own private cars and drivers----they are rich! But those who are still training have to use the public transportation facility. And I run into them in daily life during the tournament.
sumo is the best i no longer have satellite so can no longer watch it sucked anyways as all match no ritual some day . . . japan or die . . . or just get a satellite with nhk
