i'll make this briefer than my post in the medical marijuana forum. do any of you who feel very experienced in terms of different, specific, and KNOWN strains of herb know of any strains renowned for being particularly effective for pain relief? specifically joint pain, pain in the hips and knees making it painful to walk. it would be a major plus if it were conducive to sleeping (not a rushing, soaring high) but not a particularl sedative strain either. i would like to be able to sleep, but not be put to sleep if possible. i would want to grow a seperate strain to help deal with insomnia if possible. of course this is all for down the road. i already have the joint pain and insomnia and self-medicate with black market herb already, as well as enjoying its recreational value. but getting it from a dealer, its inconsistant and i rarely know what i'm getting beyond that i'm getting weed, so its hard to seek out pot effective for what i want it to do. i have to take what i can find, which leaves little selection. but hopefully someday i can grow my own for medical use and not worry about my legal status. failing that, i can at least provide myself with good medicine more secretly. anyway, if you know good strains to use specifically for pain relief, i'd like to hear your input.
i wish i knew for about 3 years ive had bad pain in my knees and left wrist constantly...i just do the best i can to deal with it
yeah, same here for the most part, eskimo anyway i forgot to mention i understand the concepts of genotype and phenotype, and understand one strain will likely offer a couple varieties of pot, but i'm talking about in terms of generalizations -or- the desired phenotype. and man i love opiates, but i couldnt take those long-term. i like them too much, i'd get way too addicted way too easily.
icmag.com has a great section for strain reviews.. and seeing as most the reviews are from personal harvests, you most likely won't be reading much bs.
I dont know about marijuana strains that are specific for joint pain, sorry I can't answer your original question. But taking calcium and magnesium together works wonders for the joints. I have bad feet from doing point ballet for years, which in turn gives me bad knees and hips, and calcium and magnesium makes me sooo much less achey and cracky. You can find combination supplements at any place you can get vitamins. It also acts as a natural muscle relaxer and anti-anxiety, so that could possibly aid in insomnia? Sorry I couldn't be more help, good luck on your search!
im pretty sure any strain that is highly indica would work, kush strains come to mind. purple kush maybe.
thx, and good points folks. and for the other person suffering joint pain, i found a lead on another forum doing some google searching... http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-2871.html the long and hopefully accurate post by a member of the forum named soul
bah, i wish i was allowed to just grow my own and find out for sure i want to not hurt so much i'm gonna look into those supplements, too, though.
just life in general. no cause that i can see or understand. just pain comes and goes. i've never been overly athletic or anything, really. its just sometimes i get really bad pain in my hips and my knees, and sometimes elsewhere but mostly them, and lately its been getting worse and worse i've long been able to crack all my knuckles, my elbows, my ankles, toes, and sometimes back, but the other day my KNEES popped for the first time in my life. it wasn't comfy. i dont know if theres any cause to any of this or not. but it feels like the bones were all just put together wrong or something
I do not no of any strains of marijuana that may help with joint pain but there is a plant called Horsetail that has been known too relieve joint pain. There are many other herbs that also can help, but I lost all of my reference material.
used to go backpacking, camping and such a lot though. canoeing and kayaking sometimes, too. i walk as virtually my only mode of transportation now. its been a few weeks since i've been in a car, and way longer since i've been in a bus. i think this may be contributing to the increase in pain, but i like the exercise and fresh air. i've been wanting a bike, but dont really have money for one and it will only help in nice weather anyhow. thats as close as i can think to a cause maybe
If there's no injury to go along with the pain, glucosamine is your best bet. It acts as a joint lubricant and makes them more smooth and "well oiled" if you will. You can get this drink called "joint juice" that'll make you feel better after a week or so of drinking it. You can find it in most health stores I'm sure. It will fix you up, but won't take the pain away immediately. Again, sorry I don't have the answer to your original question and took off on a supplemental tangent haha.
Alssssoo, a lot of those pains can come from your feet being off balance. Make sure you wear great supporting shoes or atleast invest it some quality insoles.
i'm currently wearing my chuck taylors. i have a super comfy pair of børn shoes with wonderful support, but i accidentally caught the toe on the edge of the sidewalk and scuffed them pretty bad when they were really new! i'm really, really pissed. i need to get some brown shoe polish or something, cause they were really comfy. but the problem with supplements and special health foods at this particular point is my inability to afford them. i am in school and have very little income, next to nothing. nowadays its a burden enough to get a bag of grass....i can't afford to buy a bunch of herbal supplements and various remedies and such for myself. course the strain info i want is for later use anyway, so it will be good to know about these things later as well.
Oh my, you can't get much worse for your feet than chuck taylors. I miss wearing them but they destroyed my feet that much more. And i feel ya on the limited income, I'm currently out of calcium and magnesium because the bottles I buy are 50 dollars for 200 pills (not TOO bad) and I can't afford it right now and my whole body is cracking and rattling and crunching. At least it shows me it was working!
