I have this crazy urge to bake. I wanna make cookies, brownies, muffins, maybe even pie. Right now and of course eat all those things. The ingredients are missing, probably the skills too
i get cooking urges as well, but then i get stoned and go for the already made cookie dough, sometimes it actually makes it to the oven before it gets eaten
If I drove, I would be on my way to the store to get things to bake with, but it's WAY cold outside. It's way cold in here, dont even wanna know how cold is outside. I used to bake a lot with my mom when I still lived at home, but I dont know how I might do without the assistance.
I wish I at least had something like that, so I could fool myself that I actually baked something But I really do feel like making it myself, from scratch and making fun yummy things.
I have everything but flour. I never ever use flour, because I never bake. I should really have some flour on stock from where the urge strikes and a couple of other things because I wouldnt want to make a plain cookie.
I have brown rice and the only oatmeal I have is instant oatmeal. Oatmeal cookies are on my imaginary list.
yeah from scratch is way fun, however also messy...but if u got baking talent and the right stuff u need, go bake dude!
if you grind the rice OR the oatmeal, (instant is fine) you will have flour, oat flour is a bit less gluteny than wheat flour, so you'll have to add more butter to the recipe, with rice flour, you have to make sure it's superfine, and you might want some oatmeal, or oat flour anyway as a binder, because, far as I know rice is totally without gluten. edit: I should note that baking is SERIOUSLY about experimentation, add sugar, or flour, or more milk until you get what you want I would suggest softening butter/margerine, mixing it with the sugar (fork is the best way to do this, unless you have a pastry cutter) add a mix of flour and milk a little bit at a time, you might want to add a teaspoon of vanilla extract, or vanillin, or whatever, and a half a teaspoon of salt (you don't strictly need salt, but it does help)
I should note I cook like a grandmother all by sight and ratio, so I don't have quantites for you. look at a standard cookie recipe and adapt to the ingredients you have.
blender, coffee grinder, mortar and pestle, food processor (which you could make the whole of the cookie dough in) anything that grinds things oatmeal you could just beat the hell out of.
I cook like that too, but when it comes to baking Im so lost that I find measurements VERY important. I also find that it's easier to screw up with the wrong quantity of something while baking. I think Im gonna wait until I can get the ingredients for the things I want to make, because if I wing it and it doesnt turn out to be yummy Im gonna be disappointed. I do appreciate all your suggestions and have made a mental note of them
