    novice question, i know... but, two days ago I put 14 gauge earrings in with minimal pain.


    How long do I have to wait to move to a 12 gauge? A coworker told me I could do it in a week if I'm cleaning them and they're not painful, but I don't want to mess anything up..

    Yeah, I'd wait a week or two. Keep them clean. And when you can move them around, tug on 'em, play with them, and they don't hurt... then they're ready.

    Moving from a 14 to a 12 in a week or two isn't that bad.

    HOWEVER, when you start getting up to higher gauges, you really need to wait about a month between gauges.

    [Mine used to be big. Big. And you can tell how much I fucked my right one up by how scarred it is now. Don't do that.]

    I'd wait around 2 weeks.. and take care of them in the time being, wash them, sea salt soak.. tea tree oil them etc.

    what gauge would you say is the biggest you could go to before they get to the point of being permanently stretched? or does it only depend on how gradually you do it, minimalise scarring and all that?
