i just started stretching my ears myself and iam wondering how long i should wait until i stretch them bigger and can i go up a few sizes instead of just one?? thank ya!!
I'm in the beginning stages of stretching myself, too. Take it slow! The smaller the step you take, the less the chances are of messing it up somehow. Before you size up, the previous size should be well healed (to the point where you can tug on the jewelry and rotate it without them pinching or being sore at all). If you're a reasonably quick healer, you only gauge up one step at a time, and you take good care then this might mean only a week or so in between. I don't think skipping sizes is necessarily a good idea, though, if you're doing it yourself. By stretching you are just creating little micro-tears in the flesh around the whole, and by taking small steps those tears will be very small and even, but if you go too crazy and big at once you might lose control of that. Good luck!
Before you stretch them again, they should feel like they did before you stretched them in the first place. They shouldn't be red/pink, swollen, tender, etc. They should feel okay to lightly pull on, laying on them, bumping them on things, etc. You shouldn't be worried about whether or not you can skip gauges. Don't. Honestly, it is NOT worth it. If you try to stretch too far too fast and tear them or blow them out (where you stretch too fast and pull the tissue from the INSIDE of the piercing out through the back), you'll end up having to take them out, let them heal, and start all over again... except that the second time around, you'll also have to deal with scar tissue, which makes stretching a hell of a lot harder. Basically, the faster you try to do it, the longer it's gonna take in the end.
no reason in particular .. and i tried it .. it hurt really bad and my ear got really swollen and it hut too much so i took them out .. i might try it again another day.. but thank you everybody!
Yeah, I don't know if my ears hae been healing exraordinarily fast or what, but I've found that they hurt and swell immediately after for a while. There's a period of about a couple hours when I'm actually tempted to take them out, and then I forget about them pretty much. Within a few days they've always felt fine and just like normal. Last night I actually slept with my 10g taper in my right ear, with o-rings! after I stretched the hole I couldn't seem to get the new ring in, so I said fuck it. Now I'm all lopsided but I'll fix that later today...
You're supposed to wait a month in between gauges. Seriously, do that. And don't go up more than one size at a time. I did and tore the tissue in my right ear. Had to take out my 5/8" and let it close down. Now the lowest hole in my right lobe looks like shit. Ah well. Live and learn.
My hubby is getting me stretching crescents for my b-day. I'm at a 16g right now, so I will be stretching soon...come the 28th.
Agg... Any advice on distracting myself for a couple weeks? I've been thoroughly scared into taking it very slowly, but right now my ears feel totally fine and healed, even though it's only been about a week and a half. It's hard to ignore, and I like the stretch so much! Call me a freak, but I'm having a hard time waiting!
honestly it depends on the elasticity of your ears...i went from a 14 to a 10 in about a week period...and i was jumped to a double zero in aboutanother week....with no tears no blowouts none of that stuff...if your skin in your earlobes is elastic enough it will not hurt em....if u want the bigger even quicker consider dermal punhing
I've been stretching my ears for 5 years, I'm currently sitting at 1/2" now, with dermal punching your going to want to put some thought into that, because it will not close back down if you decide that stretched ears arent for you. Because your taking a plug of flesh out at that gauge. I reccomend that you always stretch slowly, I'm trying to get my ears up to 5/8" it takes awhile. I have a friend whos ears are at 7". Pretty heavy shit.
dude i stretched my ears in secret even though i just started i went from a a reg peircing to a 14g to a 10g al in a matter of like 30 min in my 3rd block class.... i thought my mom would freak so i would wear my hair down alot until one day she noticed and was fine with it "just as long as you dont stretch 'em to ur chin"......if only she knew=> my dad freaked he told me that its ugly and nasty so i yelled @ him 4 dippin and he shut up.....he'll get ovah himself (next week he got his ear peirced)
Just got my lobes stretched. My piercer told me to wait at least 2 months between stretchings at larger gages. Don't talk the jewlery out until it is totally healed.
No worries guys. What I'm doing seems to work pretty well for me. I'm pretty much just waiting until the piercing isn't sore, doesn't feel "tight", etc. I guess I heal quick, because it usually doesn't take more than a week or so. Right now I'm only up around an 8. I'll probably go to a 6 sometime in the next few days.... This is fun!
Ok, I had to downsize to a 14g again. I took mine back down because I felt like the enlarging crescents I was using were too tight. I know I am stretching, but I don't want it to be too tight and cause a restriction of blood flow. What are your thoughts on this?
For a couple/few days after an initial stretch, it's normal for the flesh around the jewelry to swell slightly. That's mostly what causes the "tight" feeling. Every time I've stretched so far, I've tolerated that tight feeling patiently and had the swelling go down as it healed. It's helped for me to make a point of turning the jewelry a couple times a day, and that way I can really tell how much easier it gets to turn. I'm still at 8. I have yet to make my next set of plugs. Maybe I'll do that today...
