One night I was in my bedroom and my dog started barking mad. I went out on the back porch and looked up in the sky and there was a bright green thing that was falling. It was very large... it didnt fall real fast or anything but it was glowing and it hit in the woods behind my house and then it rained for about a week straight non stop and then I went out there and I never found anything. It was very weird... my dad saw it as well. I wonder what it was
The first thing I thought when it happened was UFO!!!!lol... but it seemed a little small. I think it could have been space junk... dont that stuff fall to the earth daily... but then again it burns up in the atmosphere right?
Meteors can be different colors depending on what they are composed of when they are burning up. I have seen green meteors before but not hit the ground. If that's what you saw and it hit the ground, i would go back and look for it. They are cool and are worth money.
distances can be decieving. it probable it the ground, if it did so at all, a LOT further away then it looked like it was from where you saw it. second, what was left by the time it did, probably looked like any other little piece of volcanic rock, so even if you did see it, you might not have realized it was what you were looking for. then again, if it WAS a CONTROLED decent, then whatever it was could have leveled off over the horizon from you and never hit the ground at all. this is most likely if it was anything other then an ordinary meteorite. if it was actualy as big as it looked and it actualy hit the ground there's be a big (wide, not neccessarily deep) hole in the ground with everything burnt arround it and the object auggered in somewhere under near the middle of it, but again the object itself, what was left of it, would be, to the naked eye, indistinguisable from any other little chunk of volcanic rock. =^^= .../\...
I went to look, where I saw something similar coming down and found a large pod type of thing. Looked kinda like a wooden root-like mutant humaniod. The thing wieghed more then 50 pounds. It took it home to try to figure out what it was. After a year or so, I buried it in my yard. Now a wierd vine grows out of it.
The rain and mud was so bad I couldnt get back there... plus it was a little cool outside and I didnt want to get sick...
I had a friend with a similar experience. It was green as well, but it was kind've like one of them laser light things moving around in the sky at insane speeds. He wasn't the only that saw it apparently.
