Dunno who they're thinking they're fooling it's not as scary as it sounds. Honestly running up to someone and asking how they're doing in Deutsch is scarier.

also I dont now this but I am guessing of all the groups who dont love Germans it would be those rebel southerners....retroactive patriotism and all....they dont have a great reputation for being able to seperate their historical ''eras''

 

Here's what a friend of me would always pull on german streets and at german metal festivals, in german:

Friend: Hey wait! You lost something!

German: What?

Friend: The war!!

 

They loved me.

There's some similarity there though in little aspects and ways. We're probably still too very proud in defeat though ultimately disbanded into small pockets and areas still consist of the all old ways.

Probably as many rebel flags in German trailer parks as there are in Louisiana. seems to be the universal flag for "fuck off, leave me alone" lol. In Germany anyway hehe.

I only found them to be quite interested in where I came from and why I liked nascar so much.

 

Another similarity, and this came from my dad with his fascination of the south.. "we always go for the boys in grey" meaning both German soldiers and the Confeds.

Was a funny moment at the pub once when my dad bought like 10 union hats and 10 confederate hats for Xmas and then went around to bar flies handing out what hats he thought they'd fight for.

All of us in Grey hats were like yokel roughians and all the union folks were all dressed up political fancies. That was such a fun night. That's when he told me we side with boys in grey.

We got so drunk together and embarrassed my older sister who was trying to have a 30th at the time I remember and my dad and I were blowing into the streamer whistles during her speech and we were messed up, hysterical laughing the more we tried to behave the worse we got.

Thats probably going to be one of the last memories I have of my dad enjoying himself that much at a pub.
