yeah bro hes awesome to chill back and listen to him. I was watching a show on VH1 the other day, and it was a video of him a long time ago, and he was playing behind his back, it was rad because very few people can play better than him in front them, none the less behind there backs. I love smoking and listening to him, if you like the kind of blues he plays, you should download some songs with B.B. King feat. Eric Clapton, they play some rad music together. peace & love
I agree that stevie is impressive. I too compared him to Al King, and Jimi. Then I saw SRV live. I was NOT prepared for what happened, no recording could give the feel that stevie had live. I saw him later in his career, on tour with Jeff Beck in a small hall. Stevie opened the nite i saw them, they each took an hour ten and then jammed together at the end for an hour. Stevie gave me literall chills, he played but his hands never touched the frets, his amps wailed in ways that recordings never show. The sound cut thru a person, setting them on edge with urgency! He played his high notes while on the toes of his cowboy boots. He didnt miss a beat, playing his own tunes as note for note as I knew them from the albums, but it was different, I had no clue what I was in for when I went in. As a guitar player, it can only be described as a religious experience! I can not explain it any other way than that, really. The biggest drag of it all for me was that I had the chance to meet him before the show, but held the door open for him and told him I would quiz him later about his gear, drawing a small smile from him. A few months later I got an early morning call from a friend who told me he had died.
I agree 100% with Samson. It can be a religious experience. I saw him at the last show in Wisconsin. As I watched him play, everything around him became a haze and his image shot toward me like one would zoom in with a camera! I just watched and took in the entire experience. He was the best bluesman alive. RIP SRV
