Ok...I havn't brushed out my 3 ft. long hair in a few days...ehh well it just sucks to do! and at first I was thinking of cutting it all off, but now it is starting to matt up underneath and it sparked the idea of dreads. But I don't want to be like spending a lot of time trying to dread it all at once. Can I just let it matt and help it a bit with like beeswax and stuff?

If any of you other dreaded beauties have some tips on helping pull em together over time I would really appreciate it.

ha ha...my in laws are gonna hate this...I luv it! I will post pics as they come together.

i have begun to let my hair naturally dread..

i would advise u to NEVER USE WAX on ur dreads..just don't brush and use a non residue shampoo..i use dr. bronners....

congrats..ur hair sounds like it will be the perfect thing to do w/ ur long hair...i'm so excited to see pics...

pm me if u want..i have loads of girlfriends who have all went natural as well...remember..it is only natural if u leave it alone and do not add anything to it...like wax...:)

Is your hair actually beginning to dread? My hair's about the same texture as yours and only a couple of inches shorter- haven't brushed it more than 3 or 4 times since about this time last year but it never even tangles. It'd be awesome if it would start dreading all by itself but I just don't think it'd ever cooperate. I hope yours work out though....can't wait to see pics as they progress!

if u want ur hair to dread u cannot wash it w/ regular shampoo...u need to use a non residue leaving shampoo....i use dr. bronners....

the shampoos they sell in the store are made to detangle ur hair...
also when u wash it go all crazy w/ it an encourage tangles...

thats what i did.... i didnt use a non-residue shampoo though, i just used a SUPER cheap shampoo, and didnt use conditioner.... i just went CRAZY when i would wash my hair, and when i slept at night, i wouldnt put my hair up, i'd leave it down, to promote tangling....

    good luck!

I have used soap made with goats milk and tee tree oil. I am still looking at different soaps...Yes it is starting to knot up especially underneath, the top it taking it's time.

I just wash it every couple days with the soap and let it dry...I do spend a lot of time in the sun and swimming in the lake so that might help it too.

so I will just keep going with that...my husband hasn't said a word, but he says he wants to dread his too...only problem is he has to grow some hair first;)

I will keep you all posted...happy dreading
