Hey all, I'm considering trying to form a nomadic commue. With in a year I will have enough saved for a decent sized camper and after plans and dreams failed with a ..friend I've decided I'm going to make this happen even if it is by myself. My point is I would love to have fellow friends who believe in appreciation and exprience to join me in my travels.. if anyone is interested please share your ideas.

good luck! there's nothing wrong with canada, indeed many an individual fleeing mainstream society or looking for an alternative lifestyle has had canada at the top of their list! :)

a big solar pannle is a must if you plan on using lights at night withought draining your battery or having to run the engine, which isnt ecogroovy, it would be ecogroovier than gas to use biodiesel, but truthfuly biodiesel isnt that great, yeah its made from a renewable resource but it has not eco groovy materials used in its making, also if everyone starts using biodiesel, a gallon of biodeisal started off at waaaay more than a gallon of corn, there will a greater demand on farming which will lead to over farming and the destruction of rainforests. Another reason i would go against biodiesel is that it cant be found in a lot of places and when it is it is usualy pretty expensive.
You need to figure out a means of getting some cash, a good way ive found while traveling with my pards is to make hemp jexelry and whatnot, get into a yuppier area a single necklace can get like 10 bucks, which doesnt in these days sound like much but will keep you gassed up or buy a dime sack, or some cigarettes or whatever, then again there is always grifting. If you can also find a people's park you can usualy get some free clothes or some food. if you are handy you can do odd jobs along the trip for some extra currency. a fun thing to do if you have a camper is to make special boxes fitted below windows to grow a small herb garden to liven up your food or maybe some smaller flowers to liven up your surroundings, being stuck in a car for a while grows rather bleak no amount of bright paint can change the beauty of live plants.

You speak about these things like I or, others may not have thought about them. Obviously if I have been planning my lifestyle for as long as I can remeber I would have thought about stuff so simple. I'm not saying I know everything I need, but that comes with experience and taking adivce from other cool cats along the way.

Truthfuly there is a whole lot of people who talk about What you're planning on doing, and a whole lot of these plans just dont pan out, people see ANOTHER plan for a nomadic community and jokinly brush it off as another thing that will fade out of memory. In my Experiance actual "nomadic communities" dont always continue the way a regular communitie does. SO with that being said the best experience I can give is to try road tripping around until you got it all figured out, by yourself might be the best, but then again if you pick me up it will be just as inspiring of an experiance. I feel ive been lucky in the past to have had the chance to road trip around in the back of a rattly old vw bus, very spiffy man, its a very worthwhile experiance, and if you manage to keep going then do it, bt when your traveling just like you did when you start out you need big goals or else you'll be drivin around a backroad somewhere unsure where to go.

Corn isn't grown in rainforests -- we grow it ourselves in Kansas. America can grow its own cornoil/biodiesel and then some more for the rest of the world if we wanted -- during the Cold War we kept the USSR supplied in grain -- we have massive growing capacity in our fields.

If we grew our own oil and didn't buy it from OPEC that would be very good for our economy and very bad for the Saudi monarchy, and anything that is bad for the loathsome Saudi monarchy has got to be so good for the rest of the world, not to mention the ordinary Arabs living in Arabia that don't belong to the tribe of Saud, that it would more than make up for any other non-grooviness it might have.

In the UK a revitalisation of farming can only be a good thing. Something like 4 farms are being sold a week, many of which end up becoming a house development, or the barns been converted to dwellings, or at best a small holding and the remaining land going for development, etc.

im just overblowing it, what should be done is legalize cannabis so we can make hemp oil into biodeisel, plus the rest of the plant can be used for other good purposes, if more hemp was used logging could in the future become less economical, whiuch is all i really care about, trees.[IMG]

Hello. I don't know if you're still on about this, but I'm around Ottawa, and I hitchhike quite a lot. I'll totally join you if this flies.

Not as a permanent thing, for running out of money, but maybe this coming summer? I'll do it. I'll just save up a bit of dollarage.
Should this be a more or less drive-around-canada deal? I was planning on hitchhiking around this summer, but this could be lots of fun. Much better company, too!
