Hi - My name is Dawn. Are you interesting in traveling to NW Massachusetts on 156 acres in the rolling hills?

We currently have a mix of singles and families. We are involved in starting a new cooperative community here that is semi-established already, with lots of income producing opportunities.

We are currently starting a 3 acre garden and currently working on a camping site. Clearing out the once cleared out plots for the animals to graze. Visions of tepees/yurts/hobbit houses/treehouses heated underground with outdoor woodburning furnances.

We have a huge amount of inventory available to the community if we need it.

We are omnivorous and welcome everyone from all walks of life. Plans to hunt and fish. We have a vision for a community kitchen. Growing vegetables for immediate use, winter use and sales. A separate area for more community consumption and an herb garden for perennials.

We are talking about creating a visiting campground for income producing possibilities. Your contribution to the community all relies on your needs and desires. We have potential upcoming outside projects to help with any funds we need to help make this happen.

I could go on and on - This will be big.

It is beautiful here. Lots and lots of trees, brooks, a swimming pond, apple orchard, plans to have a fruit orchard up from the community site with a road already set for that area, disc-golf area, available property in the village area for income producing possibilities, such as a cooperative pub, market, cafe, thrift store, etc.

We are currently in the process of creating the vision statement and incorporating ideas for this beautiful area with huge historical values from the 18th century. We are seeking more people for the creation of this vision statement allowing you to have a part in creating your dreams with us as a whole. Throwing out the idea that we don't have to do it alone and can make great things happen standing together as a family.

We are open to single members and families for membership.

Please call us at 413-624-5555 or reply to this post.

    Thank you

Thank you - We have one single man and a couple with a child. We have another single woman coming tomorrow for a visit and another woman with her significant other and her 6 year old daughter visiting on June 4th, then another single guy visiting or joining in 2 months and many more that we are communicating with. So far, we are a white demographic, currently communicating with another gentleman in Greece. Our demographics are not discriminating.

I will definitely keep you updated on our progress. We are going to a livestock auction today, since it is raining again. So, hopefully we will acquire some chickens and anything else we can get a good price.

Hello, I called the other day and was talking about coming up to visit and possibly join in two months. I am excited to meet you all and to see the commune.

Hi James - Super stoked for you to come. We didn't buy any farm animals today, but we got a good idea on what the auction prices are on a variety of things. We are going to start clearing out the garden. Give us a call anytime, especially if you have a change of plans. Peace - Dawn (Mountain's Brook Hideaway)

What kinds of local or state building restrictions will you run into here? Would a Cob or packed earth and natural timber structure be feasible, or would local zoning say no to that?

We are in the process of planning and will have more information on the zoning requirements and will have more details for you at a later date.

I get out to that area a few times every summer, and I'd be interested in the idea of camping, especially if there's swimming. But sorry to say, we're stuck in the suburbs and not likely to be recruits to the commune. Maybe a little work/cash would make it a fair exchange?

That's great - We just came from Grand Haven, MI - We are actually moving on to a Christian Community, Mountain's Brook Hideaway could become something really wonderful, super beautiful, the aura at the ranch is amazing, we just have a different calling. So please call or email from the other posting above to contact the community when you are ready to schedule something in advance.
