We're living in a time when my generation is more frightened of LSD than cocaine, meth or hell in one or two cases heroin... and I'm not even joking I've seen it and "all a friend can say is ain't it a shame". We need LSD to be seen as less dangerous... as it is perceived to be far more dangerous than it actually is which suggests a misinformed public. If a sufficient percentage of the population of any nation had a psychedelic experience then there would be drastic and revolutionary political and social changes. That's the core of it all, people say oh yeah the 60s can never be recreated but the simple thing is the very core of it is just the idea of giving out acid to get people to realise the important things in life. Just get everyone to have the psychedelic experience because for a surprisingly large amount of people it changes you forever and for seems to change you for the left the emphatic side the green natural side, either way psychedelic use brings out the more concious human qualities in you, over the more animal ones... which seem to dominate modern culture in a lot of social and political ways.
You know it really is true, too many of my friends love to get amped up on speed, go on coke binges on the weekends, yet any mention by me that I have a couple extra doses of acid, and its like I stabbed them with a sword and turned it a full 360 degrees inside of them. "hell no" "I aint trying that stuff" No matter how many things I print out for them, show them, read to them about lsd, they truly are convinced that their cocaine use is healthier. It does bug me, but I've learn to deal with it. The only thing i disagree with you on is the give it out for free deal to get the 60s back. It would be nice but, society in this new decade has way different social beliefs than back then. It is no longer cool to trip, or ever mention tripping or acid at parties. It is however cool to take the whole crew into the bathroom to snort a few lines during a party. The world is changing, for the worse.
its our duty then to disprove what the masses believe about lsd. awareness. people just need to know the TRUTH and the best way to show them is to do well in life and not hide the fact that lsd is a part of that path. i know what you mean about the paranoia. i have friends that are alcoholics, use every other drug but lsd??? NO WAY!!!!! That shit will make you crazy!!!!! BE CAREFUL!!! its sooooooooooo sad to hear that stuff. i'd love to see some lsd friendly awareness campaigns--through art, music, etc. the university of toronto even has a guy that lectures on the spiritual uses of lsd. these big lsd signs were posted all over downtown toronto--3xi were there for our honeymoon tripping out walking around downlown and we saw LSD on just about every street post. it was AWESOME! a bit at a time-people will wake up. they'll meet people like us, wonder why we're so groovy and eventually be compelled to try and find their own inner groove. if the sixtees could happen once, it could happen again--but this time with more staying power and in a more transcendant way.
I like the idea, but how can you be sure these people would actually take the LSD? Or not call the fuzz on ya? A lot of people are already having the psychedelic experience anyway. Maybe not enough though.
there are lots of people having psychedelic experiences. you guys just live in an area where apparently no one trips. most of the people i have met who are into drugs have tripped on a psychedelic drug at least once. also no one has the money to just give away any decent amount of acid, nor is it safe to do so. the highly open use of acid in the 60s is the reason why lsd is seen as one of the most dangerous drugs today.
i don't think everyone should do lsd. i think that within the scene, we should make an effort to be more generous with eachother and not fuck with people by making it about business more than about the experience itself... always trying to make a profit. that's bullshit, and it makes me sad that it's happening so much. i believe it's important to value things, so we don't manipulate eachother, but it's also important not to swing too far in the opposite direction. i don't think we need to convince people that lsd is safer than any other drug; i don't think it's that important. what is important is the integration of the ideas that come from the experience into our culture. the best thing we can do for lsd's reputation is to unabashedly and wholeheartedly reach the new potentials lsd has shown us. to live all the time in the new reality we have seen. to create, invent, share, connect, and BE the reasons we love it. and to come out of the closet about it, but only when asked. if the world was already the way it is when we trip, we wouldn't have to trip at all. so if we just live like it is, and create it that way around us, our energy will affect other people... at least the individual people we contact. and if they ask, we can tell them. if they're not receptive anyway, nothing we could say would change their minds. i hope that made sense...
It's a nice idea, and surely many of us have had the same thought's during our short amount of time on this planet. But I dont exactly think it's going to happen, nor do I think it even should happen. What need's to be kept in mind is that LSD is not a miracle drug for everyone, and plenty of people who drop receive the total opposite shift in self-consciousness that is being talked about here. Not everyone automatically see's the light, we dont all just embrace peace and love and natural living, forgiveness and contemplating the inner mechanics of Mother Nature. Half the people see Nature at work through Her energy, but dont even realize that at it's core, it's pure love. They just see the beauty of the physical aftermath and are awe-struck. But after a few weeks or month's go by, they lose that connection and harmony and return to the selfish lifestyle they know and love. The ego is a monster, remember that, and it will always creep back in and consume your awareness if you cant figure out how to battle it properly on a moment to moment basis. There is a dark side of the subconscious, we all have it, and some of us have perverted thoughts, desires, and impulses which we dont have the means to combat positivley. We stumble over our insecurities, we have doubt at any reasoning for caring about our fragile lives, and most importantly, when life is going great for us and all of a sudden, we are turned on by loved ones or Nature Herself, we grow cold, distrustful, and filled with regret and anger, some of us with paranoia. A big LSD overload to the social fabric will eventually, and probably sooner than later, fry it to the core. We cant always get along and there will always be certain people with power who cling to seperative notions, racism, and revenge. Revenge is never warranted in my opinion, revenge is like biting a dog because he bit you first. But there is change that need's to be brought about and it's already happening. But it takes baby steps at first, and obviously, they are violent baby steps. What our problem at least in America is, is not racism exactly, it is classism. We exploit third world countires for their abundant natural resources and drive them into extreme hunger and poverty by forcing them to buy over priced matierl, and their leaders are frightened puppets who bend over at America's every whim. The people in this country meanwhile are struggling to get by, while those in power are literaly overstuffing there senses with every unnessecary material pleasure one could ever imagine. And what can we do about it? First you need to do away with seperative living, to create a mentality of oneness, that all of us regardless of race, religion, and lifestyle are in this struggle together. This is what our problem is, our country is set up to divide it's people and take away any sense of identity. And that is our weakness, we dont trust, like, or care about each other. We want to make a better life for ourselves and our children, but we are doing it at the expense of the people who live in countries where many of us come from, as well as abusing those who are here illeagly. LSD is not going to cure this problem, because when you have the concept that "everybody should be this way, everybody should be like me and become vegetarian, or everyone should tune into their third eyes, or everyone should take a drug to turn on, or everyone should see that cocaine is evil" and etc. it causes diversity. Trust me, a very large percent of the human population will not like LSD, will feel very uncomfortable, anxious, paranoid, confused, and delusional and possibly worse, like having their negative dormant perversion come out dancing in full play and will not have the will power or determination to fight their urges. LSD is a tool to help us, those of us who get the benefits out of it are very much alike for obvious reasons, but the simple truth is that it's not for everyone. Not many people are ready to have their entire perception of reality blown wide open, and many people like to hide behind their habits and never confront the bigger issues of existance because they are afraid of what they might find and the personality they might lose. For those of us who like L, we will keep taking it, and we will educate those who are curious and interested, and we will always share that special light in our eyes when we run into each other. But for the rest of the people, like Prism said, just live in harmony, our dharma is to share, help others, be peaceful and nonviolent, acccept the fact that we wont ever agree on everyting, and stay positive. Because forcing a drug to be brought to the center of the masses attention is like forcing every McDonald's and Burger King and Taco Bell to be shut down and replaced with vegetarian love dens. We are all very diverse in our desires and many, many many people will never be comfortable with taking a chemical that has very high psychoactive potential. namaste kids -
ive seen a guy in portland going around with a vial of acid saying 'stick out your tongue' dosing people Id certainly do that if I had a vial. And I do believe an acid wave would cause quite some changes in just typical personality habits of people. I do think everyone should do it.
a few of my friends live in a house together theres 5 of them all up and you can almost go there anytime and one of them will be on acid and be willing to give you as much as you want. sure its no open house to come in and take acid like the 60s but sometimes there can be 20 people all there on acid with awesome trippy stuff everywhere with as much acid as anyone could take.ive seen them dose a guy up with 15 hits and not even think twice about it. not everyone can take acid though and can we really put up with all the propaganda the government would release if there was another acid wave, and in the end the more people taking acid the less there is for the rest of us and theres already what i would a shortage even though its readily availble in my town other places its near impossible. i like how the acid/psychedelic scene is at the moment because those who want it can seek it out usually eventually, theres nothing on tv saying how bad acid is coz the focus is on XTC, meth and heroin. the only thing i cant stand these days is the kids who try to spred the rumors about how they have a friend whos still tripping from acid he took 10 years ago or something like that, i wonder if these same kind of people existed in the 60s? people have changed to much to recreate the 60s all the crap TV, magazines and what the puplic has adapted to in the last 40 years have changed the way peoples minds think entirly. also i dont think people could survive if we lived how everyone did back then, its just not safe, gangs, criminals, the po po everything is different not to mention the legal status that lsd was in till 66 i think it was. believe me id love nothing more if this world was the most peaceful place and everyone loved eachother, it would make me a nicer person as well, but unfortunatly people just arent like that anymore. anyone with a open view of how the world works and has philosophys from acid revelations is seriously looked down upon by most of the general population. it would just never happen, but hey obviously the spirit of the 60s lives on in some of the people in this forum, for me thats enough
i don't think one should ever replace the other. i love lsd--on occasion....but weed is a daily sacrament!
you have to do your part - do a bunch of LSD and turn yourself into a wonderful respectful person who provides for themselves. be the best person you can be by spreading the love around. the more people giving LSD a good name the better we all will be. there are so many people who have a bad trip and go and tell everyone how horrible LSD is and because there are so many narrow minded gullible people in the world we wind up with millions of people who see LSD as a bad thing. be someone that proves that LSD does good things for people - that is all you can really do. giving out LSD to everyone will not make the world a better place unless we can all see LSD as a good thing. we need people to take it with a good perspective and for the right reasons. people should know and respect the drug. so many people use LSD to have fun at a party like alcohol. LSD can be a lot of fun but it has to be respected for what it is.
Relayer: As much as I can be pretty negative about your beliefs and such, I have to admit-- you can be pretty articulate at times, and it's hard not to respect that. I'm not saying I agree with everything you're saying and I'm really quite against taking lots of drugs, but your thinking does seem pretty fair, strangely responsible and, dare I say, even somewhat wise. Just thought you should know. Anyway, I don't think the 60s can ever be recreated, because the 60s had the thrill of discovery going for them. The whole idea of 'the psychedelic experience' was fresh and exciting... and for a lot of people it wasn't about the drugs as much as the idea of a fresh new vibe, ie: 'tune in, turn on, drop out'. Also, while there was a kind of sharp intelligence and real purpose driving the whole thing forward, it eventually slipped into indulgence as the whole thing was mainstreamed-- and eventually it consisted mostly of drugged-out losers with lava lamps, colorful clothes and painted VW vans. So basically, what started out as a potential rethinking of our accepted status quo was assimilated and bastardized until eventually it became completely meaningless. Handing out acid really isn't going to do anything-- heaps of people do acid nowadays and turn violent, or go schizo. The sixties didn't happen because people started taking acid-- they happened out of a frustration or even a fear of what the world was becoming. The whole peace movement was a reaction to an unpopular war, an unpopular way of life, and a hunger for discovery/social change. I do think there's potential with this whole 'global warming' thing, but exactly what kind of change that will produce remains to be seen. One thing's for sure-- I really can't imagine any sort of change happening if everyone was to suddenly take acid and turn into a bunch of long-haired potheads hanging out in the park.
Well thank you Heywood! We may have different lifestyles and opinions on acceptable human behaviour, but I think in the big picture we agree, I am just some steps behind you in the sense of soul evolution in that I do drink sometimes and I love to take LSD. But eventually, I believe we will all get to the same place namaste my friend and thank you again -
Yes, lsd is an object of use, for instance like a shovel, you can use a shovel to plant a tree or you can use a shovel to cut somebodies head off... just as one person uses lsd, sees the light, loses his ego and gains wisdom, and another person doesnt see the light gets stuck in the ego phase, becomes angry, violent, and so on... And thats what happened in the 60s...meaning the 60s had it's deal of bad trips too (although the numbers may have been significantly lower)... besides the real big thing that made the sixties, that made the hippies, was the tree everyone smoked thats where it started... along with the pop culture (music, art, anti war, pro love and peace...)... And also back then lsd was new nobody knew anything about it it was like a mystery thing to go and explore, which fit perfrctly with the mood of the subculture and so it gained its popularity... But with the forthcoming of Mass communication methods such as a tv internet and the likes, it was relatively easy for the government to step in, take advantage of the people who tried it unsuccefully and create programs against it. The real reasons for their actions are fears that due to a mass enlightenment of citizens the government's power would in danger... Well anyway, its not the ideal idea to simply start giving out lsd to everyone you meet... Instead, first spread the correct atmosphere and mood around! hehe
if we bring back the 60's we're gonna end up with the 70-90's again. anyone want that? anyone particularly miss the 80's? the 60's and 70's were like an orgasm, followed by the realization we splooged on our good pants and had to work on cleaning things up-the 80's and 90's (at least, that's how my dad puts it, for the most part). we need to find this beauty and freedom of human expression without drugs, my friends-though i'm probably just beating a dead hippo at this point.
I agree...its stupid that LSD has such a stigma attatched to it...but it will never be handed out like in the 60's. It has a price tag on it now, in the 60's it was everywhere and virtually free when the 'hippie' movement first started.
i think the world is a bit too fast paced and mechanical for mainstream acid use. the way everything is set out - it can all be a bit intimidating. from what i gather, the 60s was all about the whole generation going against the traditional 50's proprieties. but nowadays its all segmented and you are an individual in a scene that is made up of an exclusive number of people and each scene is seperate and may have its own trends/goals/proprieties. i mean, there have always been groups. but its sort of like how kids dont play in the streets as much these days. you could be on acid int eh 60's because everyone was free to be an individual. (maybe even encouraged or pressured) nowadays you need to be up with the moment or youre left behind in some dirty place. though i know groups of people who's parties involve plenty of random acid heads. i guess you just have to bump into the right people. (or the wrong?)
^word. i agree with you 100% prismatism, there are actually some people here in southern california who charge 15 a hit... yeah i know, ridiculous. i dont even bother with those middle-man prices. - Tos.
