Does anyone know if smoking while on lexapro will have any terrible side effects from the combination of the two?

    Peace.

    thanks for the replies guys.

and to neongreen, did you ever get panic attacks from smoking before you started taking lexapro? and if you did, did it help eliminate them when you smoke?

Hey, I was on Lexapro at a point and I didn't find any problems, I wouldn't reccomend drinking though. I used to suffer from panic and anxiety attacks and smoking usually always helped relieve me from the stress and make them go away.

Why would you not recommend drinking? I don't believe alcohol affects serotonin receptors and I don't recall my doc saying about it.

ive tried two ssri's , cipralex and luvox, and drinking is really boring on em...you get the physical effects and the impaired mind but no euphoria at all...at least for me.

The reason you dont want to drink is bc alcohol affects dopamine a lot, and also serotonin if Im not mistaken. Drinking a lot can worsen depression or even create it. Trust me I know from personal experience several times. Also on SSRIs you get drunk as shit quick, headaches usually as soon as the alc really kicks in, and can basically reach highly toxic levels quicker. But hey, you can definitely still drink.

    I know I did.

Just make sure you dont get too crazy at first and keep yourself in check.

As for smoking and SSRIs, there are no negative interactions. It changes the high a bit, some good some bad. Those drugs just about entirely eliminate your brains ability to become anxious (among other emotions), so obviously paranoia/anxiety from being too stoned is basically non existant. Ive experienced severe anxiety from drugs as well as sober, so I can sympathize. But pots a weird drug. It has definitely caused anxiety, but overall it reduces it and has taught me how to deal with it better in my mind, where it exists. So basically now I can mentally stop panic attacks, and use anxiety whenever it happens to realize what I should be focusing on in life. Drugs like speed just made me paranoid and anxious/edgy as fuck, but lacked the enlightening factors.

Good luck on your journey bro

Thanks for the support and information man.

And don't worry, I'm not a binge drinker anyways, never more than a six pack for me. So, I feel I'll be fine.

I think more along the lines of, people shouldnt take psychiatric drugs unless they are actually fucked up in the head, not just slightly depressed or anxious.
