I don't paint that often, but sometimes I get random inspiritations and I don't rest until they are completed. This is a small mural I painted on my bedroom wall inspired by the song "Split Open and Melt" by Phish, and I'm actually pretty proud of it. Hope you enjoy
Wow! That looks amazing! Wanna come over and do my room next? Shit, that's awesome...makes me wish I could paint.
dude, that's the fucking shit, for real. though it's nowhere near the same style, i am instantly reminded desertnightmare who drew some pretty bangin' stuff on his wall this is a fad i wish i had the talent to get into well, fad's not the right word, but whatever man, i really can't believe how awesome that is
Thanks for the compliments everyone! It can be fun to show off when you work hard on something. I just used the little 99 cent bottles of acrylic paint you can find at the craft store. It was a spur of the moment decision to paint, so I just grabbed whatever paints I had lying around the house and went to town.
Thats a pretty cool painting, whats even cooler is that you dedicated the peice to one of my favorite phish songs. good taste. how long did it take you?
About 30 hours, give or take or a few. I had a week off of work, so I'd just sit and work on it for six hours a day. I had to do quite a few layers for the color to be that bright, otherwise it probably wouldn't have taken as long. Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm only sad because if I move out within the next few years, I won't be able to take it with me!
Very nice! I love the colors and the nature design to it very much so. Any plans on painting the entire room like that? I don't have a "room" per say right now, but if I ever do I'll be trying to contact you and perhaps we could collaborate on an epic mural.
Look at it from teh bright side: You'll leave it to someone else! I'd absolutely love to move in to a place with that great abstract on the wall.
I don't really listen to Phish, but this is pretty awesome!! Oh, by the way, I have the same blanket.
Thanks again everyone. I painted it in May, and it still makes me smile when I enter my room. One of my friends is in a band that is quickly gaining recognition and he told me I could do their album cover if I wanted. I would love to make my entire room like that, but it is in my parent's house and by the time I completed it, I'll probably be leaving. Once I have my own house I would love nothing more than to do an entire room, or at least an entire wall. A collaboration on an epic mural sounds right up my alley. I would love to start on opposite sides of the room and slowly see how the two melt into each other! Actually, one dream of mine is to buy an old junker of a car, and then invite all my friends over for a painting party and let them go to town. I'd probably park it in my backyard and use it for nighttime hotboxing, though. I'd be too afraid of getting pulled over for stupid/nonexistent reasons if I drive around in a psychdelic wondermobile.
