    spirit husband

this is a new concept for me. tonight a woman was talking about her spirit husband. she's in a marriage where her corporeal husband doesnt meet all of her needs, so she also has a spirit husband who meets those needs for her. she spoke of it very matter of factly, it's part of her first nations traditions. she goes into a trance state and 'travels' to spend time with her spirit mate.

sort of blew me away because when i was with my husband, i had ~many~ needs that went unmet, and i also had visions and dreams with someone else who met those needs. the visions and dreams seemed very real (hyperreal, beyond real) at the time. havent had any for a long time (almost a year), so the memory and vividness of them had started to fade and i had begun to rationalize them as fantasies or daydreams or wishfull thinking or whatever. i had started to minimalize the reality of this beautiful spiritual journey i had been on. now i wonder if i had the experience of having a spirit husband on another plane of reality.

has anyone else heard of this kind of thing?

I've read about spiritual mates, but never experienced them. My physical mate is satisfactory.

It was a book on astral projection. I was looking in the astral sex chapter, but that was what they described. I was looking for a way to meet my physical mate on a higher plane, as we were in different states at the time.

i wonder why people dont admit to it... it's really similar to astral travel, and from what squirrel said, it seems like something that people aspire to learn how to do. maybe just 'cause it's an internal experience, and it's not really any else's business? or fear of pple thinking they're crazy?
