Looking at that I'm not seeing how it can equate

 

x=3 and y = -1/2

 

x = 3

y = -1/2

I havent done algebra in years..... so it came as a shock to me that I came up with the answer so quick... I got A's and usually over 100 percent in high school...... and A's in calculus in college...... so it comes naturally to me.
