Carly Fiorina, who's trying to unseat B. Boxer ,laid off 10,000 workers, bragged about it and is proud of it. Ruined people's lives to improve HP's and her bottom line. There's a bill, maybe sponsored by a couple of Dems that would force companies to list the pay of the employees from Ceo on down to the lowest paid worker's salaries. The result would be approximately 38 cents an hour overseas to 20-30 million and up for the top execs. Naturally, the rich are going crazy about it. Capitalism at work. Motherfuckers![IMG] Russia's Putin has stated he may institute huge tarriffs on imports so that Russia's own workers can have jobs. We need that here and we need it badly. Fuck China and it's cheap shit---we need our factories BACK HERE.

The story, as I remember it from the Atlanta Journal, was that she was "asked" to leave her cushy CEO position because the company was not doing so well under her leadership. She was given a $20+ million dollar separation "bonus" and the new CEO was given about the same "sign on bonus." Together these 2 bonuses totaled more than the salaries of the laid off workers; so, in effect, 2 people got rich while over a thousand families were put on the street. My question would be, is this the way she will run government if she is elected?

As for Chinese products, too many times that's all I can find these days and I end up throwing much of it in the trash because it's nothing more than junk. I'm starting to take the attitude that I can do without it if Chinese products are all that's available. Among these are: A lawn sprinkler that made 5 rotations and fell apart, a pair of shoes that fell apart after 3 days and a low pressure shower head that gave me a solid stream rather than a shower.

Does anyone remember the signs that used to hang in WalMart stores before Mr. Walton died? "Made in America," WalMart was built on reasonably priced American made products. Now, it's nothing more than a junk store making money for China that they loan back to us so we can continue to buy more junk that we throw away in costly land fills.

Protectionism is stupid, doesn't work, and is totally unfair to the poor people around the world we already exploit for resources.

Yeah,I guess it would be stupid to bring factories and jobs back to america. It would be pretty stupid to give our unemployed a chance to be middle class again. Protectionism has been tried SO many times here--how could I have forgotten. I think you've changed my mind. I'm going out right now and get some chinese toothpaste, drywall and toys for my grand daughter. Silly me.

Right, cause totally propping up industry that can't survive on its own makes perfect sense. Especially when said products become twice as expensive because they're made in the US, American consumers begin to buy substantially less, and the economy goes into a freefall since consumer spending is what drives it. Makes perfect sense.

How about a package deal? A little Protectionism, even out the pay scale a lot between management and labor, give the stock bonuses to labor instead of the CEO, stop moving employees around the country every few years, and dump the idea that a corporation has to make more money every year to be successful. While we're at it we could give tax breaks to corporations that move their employee base back to the U.S., or fine the hell of of those that don't.

"Made in the USA" will just wind up being "Made in Saipan" anyways . . .

As to Carly, the correct term is antisocial personality disorder

Also use TARP money to send people back to school and train them to do post industrial jobs.

only if it goes both ways

"free" trade and corporate welfare in agriculture is impoverishing farmers throughout the world, perhaps we could protect some of them from us?
