does anyone here enjoy soccer/futbol? i like european futbol. my favorite club is manchester united. since i live in the states i rarely get to see them play but they were on espn today and won 3-1 all manchester city and liverpool fans fuck off!! maybe i should take this thread to the UK forums
Nah. I mostly hang out at this British pub and theres always a bunch of soccer on. It's out biggest point of contention. That and the war of 1812. I know theres a lot of strategy and athleticism involved. But the scores always like 1 to 2, and it just looks like a lot of running.
My team is Fluminense Futebol Clube, where I played in the underage competitions; located in the neighborhood I grew up in --- Laranjeiras. Here's a taste of 80,000 fans. The best team, in the 5X World Cup Champion country, in the largest soccer stadium in the world, in the most beautiful city in the world (Rio de Janeiro): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYRHSenEhJE&feature=related"]YouTube - FFC - Maior Espetáculo já visto num Estádio de Futebol Few things bring tears to my eyes like FLUMINENSE!
r0llinstoned, enjoy the game for what it is. Please, don't perpetuate all the football team rivalries, though. I hope you're not a glory hunter http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Glory%20Hunter http://soccerlens.com/are-all-foriegn-manchester-united-fans-glory-hunters/51401/ I hate the game. Always have. Always will. Boring. Tedious.
Is there work for English teachers in Brazil Cherea? I'm considering moving to South America next year.
even the americans fight over football nah, i've tried to get into football.. could say i have a mild interest now and again if i've had a bet with a mate, but really... it's boring shite :mickey:
^^^ i was going to post a more recent one, but OMG, the music was a little too upbeat for me... modern stuff and nonsense!..
im not a "glory hunter" my grandparents are from manchester, or somewhere around there and used to send me manchester united stuff when i was a kid so naturally i got into them and started rooting for them.
im not qite sure if im understanding you, but you only watch professional sporting events in which you personally know someone on the field? or court etc..
thats what most American football fans are (or at least the ones that have no connection to thier supposed "european" team)....gloryhunters.
