So, I just bought some Dr Bronner's for the first time, and...

How did I live without it!?

So much easier than what I usually do (washing with ACV followed by soaking my hair in rosemary tea).

I didn't think they had it here and then I stumbled upon an organic store and they had some...I bought Peppermint and it's awesome!

I know right? I don't know why people hate it. Keep the bottles it comes in too. If you dilute they come in very very useful.

Wait a while, see how you like it after a few months

Why? What happens in a few months?

Yeh I loved it when I first got it (and still do for face washing), but then the joy wore off and it is no longer part of my dreadlife.

    Why'd you stop using it?

I was genuinely amazed when I first got my bar, but after the amazement wore off, I realised it felt like some rubber was raping my dreads when I rinsed...

Have you no actual wisdom to impart?
I use Doc Bronner's but have been getting slightly more scalp itchies as the months wear on. If this what you're hinting at? In my unlocked life I always enjoyed the first wash with a new shampoo the most... like some kind of glorious revolution on my dome. Perhaps it's true what they say about variety being the spice of life.

feels nice and fresh for a while..
I wash my hair every other day (every day if its been really hot or I've been working outside, tops 3 days if I have a busy schedule... as it takes so long to dry). Anyway I wash every other day and day 1 is great (I usually wash the night before). So day 1 is fresh, light aired out dreads. Day 2.. not so good, I used to end up just scratching my head uncontrollably, when I get stressed my head gets hot and it causes me to itch, and it only becomes bad if I have scalp buildup, from oils etc. When I use bronners or DHHQ shampoo and my head sweats from stress I end up scratching off build up and its a nightmare as what ever buildup the soap leaves (as its not 100% resedue free unless you rinse it for hours, literally) - it burns slightly, like how Bronners burns your eyes, anyway this very light burning is what makes me itch, like how lice don't make you itch by moving, but by their acidic excretions, so I also imagine the Bronners is off pH - why it burns scalp and eyes. So anyway I stopped using soaps and now I don't get itchies - long story short.

Lol, I'm just merely commenting on my experiences with bronner's. When I first used it I thought it was a pretty good solution in terms of price and how much you get out of it. But after a while I just wasn't satisfied with it, from the residue it was leaving. Not particularly my scalp not feeling clean, it was more a sticky feeling on my dreads. I'm not dissing the product, as I've mentioned before I like the ethos of bronner's and I would use it as a body wash, it just didn't feel good on my dreads after a while.

I'm non-dreaded but shampooing with DB always made my hair knot up pretty hard core.

I like it, but it is too drying for my skin. I think alot of people find it really drying.

heheh, that's what I wanted Merrivale, thanks. And I know what you mean about the stickiness now that I think about it. I surf a lot so I think that helps me to rinse 'em all out and not really notice.

Ahimsa, it does dry you out somethin' fierce, do you dilute it?

It certainly isn't a problem for some people, or so it seems. And it's true if I were to wash again with a shampoo I would use bronner's, it's probably the best shampoo I've washed with, definitely as to how long it lasts, but seeing as baking soda exists I'm sticking with that.

When I do use it it makes my dreads all soft and stuff but I can't help using DHHQ to get rid of the rubberyness. Plus, I find I have to wash my dreads again sooner with DB rather than with DHHQ. With DB I'd go a few days, but with DHHQ I could go a week or more xD

But meh, DB is nice once in while.

    I LOVE Dr bronners......
    for my skin.

I started using it on my hair, but it just made it feel like two pieces of dry rubber sticking together...didn't feel airy and clean like it does after I use baking soda.

It is a great all-purpose soap though. I dilute it in a spray bottle for showers, hand washing, wall-scrubbing, etc.

    Cool stuff.

I find it feels great in my hair. Maybe I should use it as a conditioner after using ACV so residue doesn't build up?

I think a lot of how it feels in your hair has to do with your water...
We have VERY hard well water here,
    and it feels no good.
