I didn't get the impression that most people here hate Harry Potter...I got about 2 chapters into the second book when it first came out and haven't touched a copy since then. I'm a little behind. I really enjoyed it when I read it though.

well i saw a thread here once where someone asked why people like harry potter so much cuz its a childrens book, and there was like 589324752 replies. haha so thats how i got the impression that these snooty hipforumers were anti-harry potter

but oh my goodness if you enjoyed the 1st two, you really need to finish the series. its genius really, just how everything pans out.

Oh yeah, the thread mudpuddle made. Not saying everyone was pro-Harry Potter, but the parts of that thread that I read indicated a surprisingly strong amount of HP support.

I'll probably finish the series...someday.

I was Asking What was the Attraction...

If it wasn't so Popular...I Would Have most Probably Read a Book or two...

But I Tend to Go Against Anything Popular...

And makes me Feel I am missing Out...

    I am still maturing...

i think not reading something just because it's popular is fucking retarded...in my opinion that is...
i see absolutely nothing wrong with people reading, especially the amount of people that read harry potter
reading, no matter what you're reading, is a good thing
with these books maybe we won't have so many fucking idiots in the world

Interesting, I'm kinda the same way. With almost anything pop-culture, my initial response is to stay away but every once in a while I'll get on the bandwagon. Mostly though, and I think it is because I don't watch much tv, I won't even be aware of a trend (in whatever) until it is dying out or has already died. Like the show Sex & the City...I got really into it just as the last season started.

yeah as for the pop-culture thing...i started reading the books in elementary school, before anyone was aware that it would become so popular. its like a part of my life. sounds lame but soo true. because ive been reading it for so long. its the end of an era!

I've been a closet Harry Potter fan for so long, I'm tired of it. I love the books and the movies.
