The first wisps of the singer's alaap
    curl up, fragrant and soft
and mingle with the fumes of my sleep.

Oh yeah, in Indian classical music, the musicians start with an alaap or alaapana, which is a slow free time improvisation on the raaga. It usually starts of with very short carefully chosen phrases of music, kinda like a warm up, which is what I was referring to.

lurve "fumes of my sleep" - this is an atmospheric piece, even in so few words.

Just a few words that intermingle together nicely...beautiful work, my friend.

I agree with LittleSkinny, this is atmospheric, and 'fumes of sleep' is indeed a beautiful phrase to have chosen in your work.
