Who in hear loves Slipknot? I really love Duality that song is awesome.

Stone Sour is great as well! What about other nu metal bands? like Mudvayne, I think they all rock.

I'm not really a fan of Slipknot, to me all their songs sound the same. I really like Mudvayne though.

I sold some hewlett packard computer paper to one of the slipknot mom's at an OfficeMax in Des Moines Iowa. I think they are all from iowa, but one of the moms came in for some paper, she had a slipknow leather jacket on and tatoos with slipknot on them. later a few employees and i got together and researched her name to track her down, and turned out to be a mom of one of the band members.

I don't understand how bands like that can devote so much of there time to singing about negativity and hate................i mean yeah there are a lot of huge ass holes in this world that do a lot of horrible thingd but get over it, move on, why dwell on the fact and start a band that sings all about it...........PEOPLE=SHIT!!!!!! haha........it strikes me as odd.....

They are a gimick. Ooo, argh, scary! I remember, back in the sixth grade, I heard a story about some asshole who got lit on fire at a slipknot concert, and at another concert, one of the band members jumped off a building and landed on someone and killed them. I'm real fucking impressed.

    Sure maybe it's a gimmick..
But you know what, there are some top notch musicians in slipknot.

The guitarists are badass, Joey, the drummer... fucking amazing.

I did like slipknots first 2 albums, the last one I bought, and threw it out my car window cuz they ran out of balls. It's sounds too .... fake, and commercialized, which is what that band became.

Thanks all you 14 year old "goth" kids that follow bands around like cheap whores on the southside of chicago! You do a good job at ruining music!

Mudvayne, these guys have some talent. I like'm, and they stick to their sound.

    Most other nu-metal sucks.

But to answer your question, "why do people scream about how bad everything is.. " or whatever.

Some people lead very shitty, down on luck, bad parents, molesting uncles/aunts, fucked up relationships, bad girlfriends/boyfriends, early deaths of parents, or no parents, serial killers, myths, heaven and hell, religion, and anything else that can scare you, or damage you..

See how happy you are when none of those good things you enjoy seem to be around anymore, and all you have is memories of abuse, and abandonment.

THAT is why musicians can focus on being so goddamn negative.

The first two albums that Slipknot did sound like noise, but their third albumt (the new one) is nice. It has some structure. It shows that they have some assemblance of musical talent. I never liked that they had nine members. What is with that. One of their memebers jobs is "Samples and Media" sounds useless to me or like a manage that they bring on stage for looks. They three percussionist, one drummer and two that just hit stuff.

    ummmm... i like the Beatles?????

    hahaha.

No, Slipknot isn't for me. If you're gonna freak out the youngins at least do it in an inspiring way, positive way. Yes, life sucks, I want my music to not remind me of my life, but to remind me that, hey, good is out there too, don't worry, have fun, woo hoo and all that jazz :)

Plus gotta love lyrics lke "I'm gonna cut you up bitch... die you fucking ****"

Obviously, I haven't looked at the CD in awhile, but I have looked at it to respect a friend's tastes and all, and they really do sound like that.

Plus, it just isn't a nice sound. Like something's gone terribly wrong with the guitars or something. The drums are sped up using machines. I could be wrong.... it just doesn't sound right. I can't put my finger on exactly why i dislike nu-metal so much, I just do.

Plus, 70s & 80s metal had some badass guitar riffs going on.... yeah.

hahaha but if you like it.... more power to ya. to each his own friend...

I would see nothing wrong with nine members, if they were a bit more complex. What are they really using them all for? You'd think, with three drummers, they could do some really amazing stuff with their music, but they don't. I saw the blue man group, which really is more entertainment then a band, but they had something like 5 drummers, 2 bassists, and two guitarsists in addition to the three blue guys. They sounding fucking spectacular.

That's what Slipknot aimed to be though, CHAOS.

They just wanna fuck shit up! What's wrong with that?

The guitars sound off? they are down tuned and distorted to hell, but they sound like metal band guitars to me.

And the drums are NOT sped up by machines, it's called double bass, the drummer (joey) has TWO bass drums and plays them to a 64th beat or faster/slower to get that pounding sound.

The other percussionists, I do agree aren't 100% nescasarry, but they have started doing background vocals on chorus's and such too, but they certainly add to the mayhem of the live show.

THE SAMPLER / MEDIA guy is also important, havn't you noticed the record scratches, break beat drum loops, song intros, and all the other noise that doesn't come from the traditional organic instraments? Do you not know anything about music?

Don't critisize what you don't understand, learn about it.

you are right... I did not know all of that.

They still really just aren't my sound, but I do have some respect for them as a band. They are really popular, so maybe I just don't get it. oh, well.
