Plenty of times, but I think this topic is better suited for the dreams forum :)

We all do, every night. But we are dreaming during that time so....yeah. I think I have.

i asked if you experienced it. also, there is great deal of philosophy and spirituality to be found through these experiences-in my opinion.

Well, yea in your opinion. In my opinion they are just dreams. Sure, they can be interpreted to have some kind of symbolic meaning. But to me they are just dreams, and as more time goes by, Im noticing that they are only real heavy when I injest opiates before going to sleep. I dont tend to get them sober anymore.

Basically, it's what happens when you go to sleep, your mind turns off the ability to function most of your body, but does not completely turn itself off, resulting in some seriously psychotic trips ;)

the brain inhibits the motor areas of the brain during certain stages of sleep (e.g. REM), allowing you to have dreams involving motion without (mistakenly) physically getting up and consequently hurting yourself.

nearly everyone has experienced dreams in which they are in a precarious situation that calls for some sort of sympathetic response response (fighting, running away, etc) but they are unable to successfully initiate these behaviors. that's why you sometimes feel so physically weak and cannot scream--your brain has temporarily suspended those functions!

Are we talking about when you're about to fall asleep and you go paralysed but sometimes your mind is still awake during that time?

I've had that a few times recently, just the realisation that i cannot move, it's weird.

i haven't consciously experienced it since i was a young teen.
i remember the last time, i was about 13, i had taken a nap in my moms room in the afternoon, and slept till about 10:00pm. i was lying on my back, and the light in the room was on. i had a nightmare, and was quite frightened. i awoke, still scared, and i could not move any part of my body, except my eyes, which where not focused. i tried to scream "mom, mom" but nothing came out. i became increasingly frightened, as i had no clue what was happening, and had never heard of sleep paralysis. after about 15 seconds, i could finaly move again.

    I'm definitely not a fan...haha.
