Has anyone heard of them? a kinda celtic mellow group from Iceland, I first heard about them about 2 years ago. Their music is just... theres one words to decibe them. Their album () is the filled with some of the greatest stuff. Theres one guy in the group that uses a bow to play more then half the time. They sing but they have NO LYRICS some of their older stuff they sing in icelandic. And have a kind of chour boy like vocals. You just need to check them out for yourself.
they are awesme. have you ever seen them play? they put on the most incredible show that i have ever experienced in my life. after each song, there was dead silence for a couple seconds, the entire room was in amazement. anyway, check out agaetis byrjun, it rocks just as much as () they are also cool with bootlegs, some really good live stuff. just to clarify to anyone else, he uses a bow to play the guitar. the bass player plays with a drum stick a lot too.
their very good stuff...sometimes it kind of drags on a little to much for me, but its great to relax to...very dreamy
mmm, i love them. I want to see them live so badly. And even though it's overplayed, i will always love Staralfur for that great moment in The Life Aquatic...there's something about Bill Murray's 'Bill Murray' facial expressions set to that song that is just golden.
Sigur Rós is fucking incredible. Especially on a good stereo system turned up really loud... the air vibrates with emotion. Just the bass player himself could make a pirate cry.
I'm pretty sure I saw pirate ships floating around the theater when I saw them, probably the most surreal band I can think of
I didn't really expect much of 'Takk' because I didn't think they could get any better. But alas I picked it up on the day it was released and thought it was fucking awesome
I've been infatuated with Sigur Ros for like 2 years. Great music. I just saw them in concert on Feb. 21st at the Pageant in St. Louis. AWESOME. Glosoli + Hoppipola = religious experience the first time I listened to it.
I'm jealous...maybe i'll make it to the music festival sydney this year to see them and the mountain goats.
i think they're great too, and besides (), Agaetis Byron and Takk afficianados should pick up Angels of The Universe, essentially similar but translates as 3 minute modern classical songs. Sigur Ros by the way means victory rose in their native icelandic and is the name of one of the band's daughters. anyone know which? I dont'
That would be the younger sister of guitarist and singer Jón Þor Birgisson, who was born on the same day as the band was formed. Sigurrós is a common female name over there. Yea, I'm a Sigur Rós nerd.
