I noticed that over in the Gun Town U.S.A. thread there's a very enteresting discussion goin' on about this, but thats obviously not the right place for it, so lets get it started over here. How do you feel about these new moves made by Obama against citizen gun ownership? And of course how do you feel about the outlawing of guns in general, if it were to happen?

    From my cold dead hands

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Regardless, it seems that they might not be taking away our guns. Why would they need to when they can make ammunition impossible to get, effectively bypassing the 2nd Amendment? Watch out for this, the legislation is already on the move.

They'll never take away the guns in the usa. The whiners are just whining because they like to whine. There are no good reasons to outlaw all guns.

The Second Amendment is a dangerous anachronism. It should be repealed. Guns are a sick, brutal fascination. I want the government to regulate guns the way it regulates cars. One should be required to take a class and pass a test. One should be required to buy a gun permit, and to get a license on every gun one buys.

Fortunately, guns CANNOT be banned because of the constitution of the United States. Of course, the constitution has been stepped on a lot lately by conservatives and liberals alike.

    So is socialism.

I will take anti-gun zealots more seriously when they call for law enforcement to get rid of their guns, too, but that won't ever happen because the people calling for gun bans love the state too much. They don't trust their fellow citizens, but they sure trust that loving government that continues to ram that spike ever deeper up their asses.

The whole idea of banning guns comes from people who want the public defenseless against the oppressors who are themselves. The people who support such legislation are merely the useful idiots who think that banning guns is going to take these guns out of the hands of people who would use them to commit violent acts, when it will only make those who are non-violent and law-abiding defenseless against such people.

I would like to mutter the words WAKE UP, but some people are just a lost cause.

The Constitution doesn't mean anything anymore. These people will do what they want. Anyone who thinks the Constitution still applies and is there to protect them is living in the past.

The American free enterprise system is an anachronism. I want the Democratic Party to move the United States far and fast to the left.

So you prefer totalitarian governments that rule with an iron fist? You can do a lot better than the US. Why not move to Mexico or Russia? How about Zimbabwe?

The US probably has a couple more years yet before it becomes as bad as those places. Obama is doing a great job at moving forward with the policies Bush implemented, so I am sure your dream will be attained in the not so distant future.

Frankly, I don't think the Democratic Party can move much further to the left without dropping the name "Democrat" and merging with the Communist Party USA.

Oh, and regarding the American "free enterprise system".... there is no such thing. You're living in the past. Bush put the nail in the coffin of free enterprise, and Obama is making sure that nail goes as deep as it can. Really, the US hasn't had a free enterprise system in a very, very long time. It may have had the semblance of being free enterprise, but when you have the bankers (monopoly capitalists) in control of the money supply, it really contradicts any notion of free enterprise.

The United States no longer has the highest standard of living.

"Denmark, which got the highest score, is not only a wealthy country, it's also highly productive, with a 2009 GDP per capita of $68,000, according to the International Monetary Fund. The United States' GDP per capita, by contrast, is $47,335."
    http://travel.yahoo.com/p-interests...nAtdG9kYXltb2QEc2xrA2hhcHB5cGxhY2VzLTUtOS0wOQ--

Of course, Denmark does not waste a lot of money on the military, so the standard of living there is even higher than GDP per capita indicates.

Whenever we want to learn how to do something right we should see how it is done in Europe. There is nothing uniquely valuable about the United States at all.
