Would you shoot an animal for food? I live near the Moors and there are lots of sheep rambling around. I have thought in the past of buying a crossbow and going and taking myself a 'clean kill' Larry the Lamb. It is illegal so I would not actually do it but as Lamb is so expensive and it is my fave meat I think it kinda a cool idea. What do you guys think?
Yeah, good point. I had actually thought that and would pay a butcher to do it but that could possibley arouse suspicion and could get me reported to the cops - another reason I shan't be doing it
I Have Lived On A Farm All My Life.... Over That Time I Have Known Many Thousand "Larry The Lambs".... They Are The Reason Man Invented Freezers, And BBQ's.... Enjoy...:2thumbsup: Cheers Glen.
I think that if someone is going to eat meat, they should be willing and able to kill an animal themselves. Unfortunately, the eating of meat is so far removed from the act of killing these days that most people dont even consider it. (Meat comes out of a plastic container from Tesco's, right?!?!)
I agree, that a lot of the reason that I chose not to eat meat. still might go back to fish at some point, if I can bring myself to prepare them (and if I can find someone to teach me how).
...first of all the fucking crossbow costs more than an entire lamb from a breeder......not to mention that poachers get beat up before the popo come in most cases....also....you do realize that after you shoot the sheep they will run for several kilometers leaving you to ''follow the blood trail'' in order to claim it.... and last http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=444002&f=51
I'd be willing to eat fish from a restaurant only if I know I'm able to catch and prepare the fish myself at least once or twice first.
Yes, shooting them is the easy part. It's the butchering that is off-putting (it takes more time, effort and you need to know what you're doing. Also is considered messy).
no, I know alot of people hate people like me and think "if you're going to eat it you should be able to kill it" .. i couldn't i'd cry... I like my food prepackaged so i don't thin of it as an animal.. and there's certain things i won't eat, like lamb.. my boyfriend lives beside a farmers feild and its always full of sheep and lamb, i couldnt do it
if you don't want to think of what you're eating as an animal, then why do you eat it? I'm genuinely curious, not trying to judge.
Just because I like it really :-/ .. i dont think i could live without chicken.. My boyfriend tried to get me to watch one of those programmes "foor incorporated" i think it's called, its how they ill the animals I wouldn't tho.. Suppose it's kind or ignorant of me!
Because it is tasty and nutritious of course, and people are used to have meat as a part of their dinner. I am not judging neither, it is simply a fact that it makes them a hypocrite. Everybody is practicing hypocrisy to some extend. I certainly don't hate people for it but frankly it is a bit of a shame.
yeah i know, but i just couldn't kill an animal. I wouldn't wear any fur or anything like that. i just.like.food. :-/
Its just burying your head in the sand, really...but then its pretty impossible to live in this modern society without being a hippocrite of some sort.
Once upon a time in my early puberty I had an irrational vision on this kind of hypocrisy, now it seems to me it's pretty honest to admit this in a righteous crowd or on a forum like this. I have no fun in butchering animals every day so I also am hypocritically happy it is not daily practice for me. On the other hand, I have the same idea as eggsprog, since i am not quitting meat (just don't need it every day) I would like to know how to do things like preparing an animal from scratch. I also grew up on a sheep farm though, and would surely feel no happy feelings when killing any kind of animal, let alone a young one.
