ok kids, looks like the shasta gathering I posted about before is coming up quick. My friend who's the L.A. family focalizer said that the gathering is starting the monday before memorial weekend, and going for a long time after, rumor has it that some family wants to keep it going through the fourth, cause virginia or vermont is too far to drive.

So, I haven't got directions yet, but as soon as I get them I'll post them.

Lovin' you all, blessings and light :0)
    Molly

Bummer you're not going to be there Molly, but I guess it is quite far for you. For us it's 6 hours. I finished converting the car to veggie oil and have 35 gallons of filtered waste oil packed in the truck for this trip. We have about 75 miles on the system so far, and it needs more heat, but I have things I can do to improve that. Bottom line is, this gathering is our first road trip on free, clean burning veggie fuel. We leave tommorrow after I get a learner's permit from the DMV. I spent about three hours in a county jail cell last week cause theu pulled me over without my wallet. I don't have a licence as it is, so I figure I should get one. Jail wasn't fun, even for three hours. love and light!!

The gathering is at 5300 feet! It will be cold at night. But if it's this far out in the middle of cold-ass nowhere, it must be beatiful.
Incidently, today is the first really warm day where we are in Oregon.

Just got home from the WestCoast regional gathering near Mt. Shasta. Sat. night was the biggest circle, with over a hundred people, but there were a lot of people coming and goind and so I'd say well over 200 attended. Lots of first time rainbows, lots of people there cause they read about it on the internet. when we arrived the L.A. and San Diego Krishnas and Joji's Chai Kitchen were feeding main circle. A week or so into the gathering, those kitchens had to go home, so a few of us who were hanging around decided to keep the kitchen going. Some kids showed up to start a second kitchen, but weren't equiped and ready to be main kitchen, so we shared duties. Wow! What a job. See, when you start organizing a kitchen, cooking meals, delgating chores, answering questions and pretend you know what you're doing, people start to think you are in charge, and most people expect to be told what to do... We pulled the whole thing off pretty short-handed. A shortage of experienced focalizers made it a bit hectic, but it was fun. Didn't see a single LEO the whole time. Elevation was 6000 feet and it was cold!!
We drove the veggie car there and I did a workshop. There was one other veggie bus there. I met two other people whose first gathering was the same as mine; Keeha Beach, vancouver Island, 1996. A real syncronicity. And I probably only heard from about 4 people what their first gathering was, so the odds are like....
I hope clean-up has started now and that they continue to be well-fed and healthy (didnt really hear of much water-borne illness). Many headed to Nationals from there, some trying to stay hanging out at that spot.

HEY, MY NAME IS LINDA, AND I AM IN BALTIMORE, I WOULD LOVE TO COME OUT THERE FOR THE SHASTA GATHERING, MY MOTHER WAS LIVING DOWN THE ROAD FROM 6 RIVERS NATIONAL FOREST, BUT MOVED BACK TO EUREKA, CA. I AM RIGHT NOW DEBATING WEATHER TO GO TO THE NATIONAL GATHERING IN WV, WHICH HAS PROBLEMS NOW WITH THE OUTLAW FOREST SERVICE, PULLING THE ENDANGERED SPECIES THING, LIKE THEY CARE. ANYWAY, MY MOTHER IS SICK, AND SHE IS NOT GETTING ANY BETTER. I SENT WORD OUT FOR SOMEONE TO GET CHARLES TO THE GATHERING IN WV, HE IS AN ELDER AND THEY NEED HIM DOWN THERE, OR ANYONE ELSE. THEY'RE GOING TO CALL THE NATIONAL GUARD OUT ON US. SOME OF US, HAVE SEEN THIS COMING. THEY'VE TICKETED PEOPLE TRYING TO WALK INTO THE FOREST GOING DOWN THE BACK RDS. EVERY LAST KITCHEN AT THE SITE THEY TICKETED. DISGUSTING. ANYWAY, I CAN IMAGINE IT IS COLD UP THERE. I AM THINKING OF HOW TO GET OUT THERE. BUT HAVE THINGS TO DO HERE, AS AN ACTIVIST. GOOD LUCK! PEACE & BLESSINGS!
