i see no value in putting others down for believing there is more to life than the empirical world, just as i see no value in forcing one's religious values upon others.

i can't fathom why its more acceptable to consider people stupid for the presence of theism than it is acceptable to consider people stupid for the absence of theism.

for the record i mean no offense to anyone. this was inspired by a reaction to a certain post, and not the post to which it was responding....

 

i understand it was a joke, and i didn't think the reaction it received was warranted. i do think what was said was totally valid in other contexts, however, which is why i started a new thread.

edit: this is not true of all atheists, but I believe even many atheists appreciate that much of the swelling of their ranks is due to the popularity of this "religion"

 

as a generalization, yes. i know you and i don't see eye to eye on religion, but then neither do i and almost anybody. i suppose thats why i limit this to theism vs. atheism, and the obnoxious qualities of the most hardline and vocal adherents of either side.

but i would count dawkins among the champions of atheism, and among the most annoying as well despite being an intelligent man, but i would say he is above this generalization.

Who cares if theres a god anyways. There probably isn't since we have logic but the only thing that matters is death and that means nothing matters.
