Am now looking into printing a magazine, book of the smuggling strip I've been doing(see below). Self publishing I guess. Anyone been that way before?

This is the latest page, the duo, now at the border and preparing to drive through with their tonne of gear...

At the minute I'm putting it up on site and that's how I distribute it I guess. But I am now wanting to print a whole version when finnished, say 500 to sell at a fiver a piece. Any ideas that might help here.

Sorry to hijack the thread (maybe I should start a new one) but has anyone used this service before? Any comments? I've been looking into something similar myself...

An interesting site especially as they claim to have distribution which is the difficult part the way I see it.:)

I have been a customer. Not yet a provider.
There is a forum on the site where people discuss issues and ins & outs.

As a customer the service was prompt and of good quality. The binding for the book was very basic but I think that was the choice of the person who put it online, unfortunately.

If you're a comic artist no doubt you can come up with a good book cover! :)

You're very unlikely to make any money following that route, but if you want to get something out there as an end in itself, then it might be worth it. Your work is very good though, have you tried sending to magazines/newspapers to see if you could get a short strip printed there?

For now I' m going to put the whole story on the net for people to read for free and then somewhere near the end print, say, 500 copies and see if people want to have a paper copy. I hope they'll be enough word of mouth by early next year to justify this small print run, but I've my heart set on printing these 500 copies even if I end up giving them away.:)

That sounds good. Do it part by part, maybe one every week or something, drum up some interest :D

I really like your drawing style. :)

That's just what I'm doing. Each Monday a page goes up at www.smugglingvacation.co.uk and'll carry on with this until the end of the story. though by then , a printed version might exist.
