Hi you all I just wanna ask-what do you think about scouting?Have you any experience with it?Are/were you scout? I came to the scouts troop 3yrs ago,but i'm sorry i didn't know about it earlier... It changed my life a lot,now scouting is one of the most important things i live for! I'm no saint as scouts usually seem, but i'm trying to keep basic scout principles-to serve to God(or just something above us ), to others and to myself and i think it's good for my life. Smiles and peace Edith
Hello, fellow! I, myself, am a scout, not a catholic scout (as you seem to be), though. The only difference is that we don't have these spiritual things on our camps, and that we don't pray together and stuff, but you're allowed to be religious, but it's not obligatory. I've been a scout for three (four?) years now and my experiences are very positive this far! :> I love our camps as our way of scouting (there are more, as you probably know) went in an indian way at first and then developed to what we have now, not really indian like, but there are some things like this, still. :> It's great because on our camps there are always some very cool people and we play the guitar, sing, play the african drums, whatever somebody brings! And last year it was very pagan-ish, the main theme was slovene (or slav, in general) pagan history and it was very interesting. One of the biggest things it did for me is that it made me more enviromental, so I'll usually pick up the trashes, etc. I'm interested to see if there are more scouts on these forums, hehe! Love, Borut P.S.: You're from Czech! :> I've been there two (or so?) years ago, to Èeške Budejovice, Praha and Brno and then to Bratislava *Slovakia*. One of my favourite countries ever! :> And you guys talk lots like we do here - obviously, our language has the same roots... There's this international camp in Slovenia this summer, are you coming maybe? If so, we can meet up there! Hhee, take care!
Oh i'm glad i have here scout friend! Okay,i'm not a really catholic-i wasn't brought up like this, but nearly everyone from my troop is so i just assumed a few things that seemed close to me Haven't you been in Intercamp in the Czech rep. this year? It was great-meeting people from different countries and all the atmosphere-standing in the morning sun during the opening ceremony with two thousand fellow people and shouting "ic intercamp intercamp is okay!" Yeah, the camp in Slovakia-friends of mine are going, but not me... 17th July we're going to a camp, here,i'm looking forward to it very much! i'll be there still like a child, playing the all-camp-game etc... I behave like a child,i look like a child so it won't be so big difference Love Edith
Hehehe! Not Slovakia! Slovenia (Slovenia is a country a bit souther and a bit more on the west than Slovakia, near Italy and Austria), actually. But yeah, the camps are cool! :> I like the fact that I'm going to a scouts-guides camp in the late August and I'm going to that international camp by the end of July. And then, I'll oficially be a scouts guide and I'll have a troop of first graders, along with a friend of mine. :> Really looking forward to it! Anyways, I wasn't at that camp, I've only camped in Slovenia a couple of times, actually, but I'm so more than going to London in 2008 or 2007 (I know it's so far ahead, but hey! :> ) Love, Borut
I meant an international camp in Tatras,in Slovakia-it's called Tatracor, you know. At the beginning of the school year i'll become a guide too!i'll start to lead little girls aged 4-7.i haven't any experiences with leading so i hope i'll manage it!And lots of luck to you! *Edith*
I'll have a troop of boys and girl aged 6-7. And I'm taking this 11days long training in the late August. They say it's lots of fun, well we'll see! Love, Borut
i have a couple of friends who are into tom brown, who i'm pretty sure teaches a really different kind of scouting, at a camp, and a bunch of other stuff, tracking, survival techniques, awareness and philosophy etc etc
I'm in venture crew. Which is part of Boy scouts of america... but cooler. We just have a small group of people, you have to be between 14 and 20, and we do fun stuff without worrying about all the boy scout ranking stuff what not, or dealing with the younger kids.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! fuckin hilarious..... my brother was in scouts and so was my sister but they didnt want to do it anymore. I have never been in scouts, I dont have enough dedication for something like that.
We have something similar to your venture crew-for us older-we do just what we want,we take turns with preparing programme and there's nobody who is really the main leader. But i like being together in a troop with younger kids too.
