Schizophrenia: typical antipsychotics work primarily by inhibiting dopamine, atypicals have more an affinity for dopamine than serotonin. Not much research has been completed in this area, but at least one double blind study has been done to confirm that Schizophrenia can be treated with 5-htp, which, rather than working as a tranquilliser, gradually lowers dopamine levels and increases serotonin levels.

Hallucinogens: LSD, DMT, and psilocybe mushrooms work primarily by elevating serotonin levels. Dopamine levels increase as will, in the short term, but I have read that in the long term the hallucinogenic experience lowers dopamine levels.

Schizophrenia and the trip aspect of the above mentioned hallucinogenic drugs both appear to me to be closely tied to a communication between dopamine and serotonin. I suspect that the dopamine neurotransmitter system, or aspects of it, consists of an imprinted, rigorous ego: an impulsive projection mechanism. I suspect that serotonin represents altruism and creativity, and that when elevated levels of projection, impulse, and creativity interact, hallucinations result.

    the 8 circuit model

Marijuana is often reported to increase creativity and compassion (many pot heads are activists.). I suspect love loosens imprints and increases self programming ability, but when the ego is still active, increases one's capacity for impulsive creative interpretation - subjectivity, gullibility, susceptibility to placebo.

The higher affinity of psychedelic drugs for serotonin over dopamine may explain why they are less physically addictive, & the higher levels of serotonin stimulation achieved on drugs like LSD probably explains why they activate higher circuit activity (than pot's 5th circuit stimulation)

I believe, that when the ego is shut off, self programming ability is perfected because the psyche is reduced to altruism non-impulsively motivating objectivity. Lack of local attachment, non local awareness.

    the 8th circuit: Samadhi

I have only read a small amount on Ketamine, the only known 8th circuit drug. A professionally documented trip report, a bit through Robert Anton Wilson, and that it was a favorite drug of John C. Lilly. My understanding is this: it directly inhibits the Semantic script, thereby providing one the ability to think directly within the causal stream.

I have heard the difference between Ketamine and DMT described as: Ketamine is like being in an empty white room, and DMT is extremely well textured. (taking into consideration differences in individual users and their beginning brain chemistry) This makes perfect sense if my theories are correct.

Ketamine has at least two disadvantages: it is a temporary shortcut, and can cause neural damage.

To permanently activate the 8th circuit, embrace the heart and kill the ego. If this is done, I consider the probability 99% Ketamine is no longer useful - although drugs like DMT and LSD probably still are.

the Dark Night (s) of the Soul

I suspect ego loss can result in a temporary dopamine deficiency. So long as the ego survives, its decrease can result in lowered levels of neural activity, even psychological pain.

Heart uninhibited by ego expands free of circumstantial psychological triggers. Simple love increases regardless of situation, because it feeds on being (& the raw physical energy intake of the body).

The instincts of the ego are no longer necessary to permit immediate reactions to danger, because one's every reaction is immediate.

    :pragmatism.

What Nirvana is, what Samadhi is, and what the 8th Circuit of Consciousness is, and how these things work, is not as important as knowing how to take advantage.

    How to efficiently achieve Nirvana.

(these are all recommendations, and I mind my own business about the spiritual practices of others.)

    1) Abandon the egotistical drugs and pursuits covertly or openly promoted by mainstream society. The dopamine kicks that keep the ego alive.

    2) Adapt a daily schedule of meditation.

Useful ideas to meditate on: causality in relation to determinism, impermanence in relation to the constant vibration, the constant energy transfer, of one's being, unconditional forgiveness, no blame (I consider blame the ego's main food source).

Useful techniques: Focus on directly manipulating one's own emotions, decreasing every emotion except love and increasing love. If psychological baggage interferes, meditate on all the things that trigger sensations of safety and peace, travel back to the point where the baggage occurred while maintaining that feeling of peace, and directly release the clinging wound.

Learn to consciously decide what to feel from moment to moment during one's day to day life.

    3) Disciplined kindness. Encourage the expanse of your heart by disciplining yourself to behave in an altruistic manner.

Spiritually, I consider achieving Nirvana of primary importance until such is accomplished, and other spiritual pursuits primarily a distraction, since they come easy once the ego has been transcended. I suspect that society has been conditioned to believe Nirvana is more difficult to achieve than it really is, and that it is just as easy to acquire as other major accomplishments, through the same basic means: disciplined effort.

I consider submission to material pleasures self restriction, because the heart is so much bigger than the ego when the two do not compete with one another it results in more sustainable and more intense enjoyment of life.

Nirvana: unconditional serotonin increase. The usefulness of nontoxic serotonergic psychedelics other than Ecstasy (which drops serotonin rather than increasing its production, and reduces long term serotonin levels), after this state of mind can be confirmed to exists, consists of isolating a highest dosage that can be confirmed for a fact to be physically nontoxic and taking it one time. Unconditional increase in serotonin means unconditional peak, and the potency of the drug (LSD or DMT, for instance) is such that something like neural capacity results.

And increases from that moment forward.

Dopamine: the impulsive psyche, desire, pride. There is a difference between an automatic function of the nervous system, and an impulsive one. Physical necessity versus psychological reaction.

Nirvana requires releasing those aspects of the psyche which are fueled by impulsive reaction. Object attachment or identification is replaced by empathic reaction. Rather than being pulled in or pushed away, one experiences how the object is. This improves one's ability to cold read.

Further on emotional control: learning to track the layers of the psyche and consciously influence them. Triggering Nirvana by this kind of meditation requires learning to isolate the motion of one's heart and expand it omnidirectionally, and learning to release above all else pride.

I consider the one superioriority to Ecstasy as a drug versus high dosage LSD a feeling of release, because the serotonin is literally being released on E. Nirvana + LSD: the unconditional nature of one's natural serotonin state means the peak is release, and occurs at a far more potent level. And no hallucinations occur on any dosage of LSD.

Psychedelic drugs also promote the hallucination that one has achieved an enlightened peak. If preference, and impulsive inferences, still occur, it isn't Nirvana.

Samadhi: ego is an impulsive food source which fuels language as self reflection. Language remains an automatic function even after this impulse is shut down, but one which was triggered into existence by impulse. That is why it can be permanently turned off, by my understanding, post Nirvana.

Unconditional serotonin increase, the Samadhi concious mind as
    a computer:
    serotonin lacks complexity and impulse,
    which equates to stillness.
    Choice = access processes,
& each is objective, free of abstraction, rate of motion equivalent to what one requests.
