So i have yet to start on my journey, but I have a big concern that has been giving me grief for many years now.

for as long as I can remember, I have had sort of an acne of the scalp. basically just always have these pimple type things on my scalp. they hurt just like a pimple, but never really go away. they usually stay in the same spots. I have been to the doc and they could not help me at all. they gave me some pills/shampoos, but no luck.. so they just said i have to wait it out

so nayways, I'm wondering if maybe getting dreads will change up my routine enough on my hair care that my scalp will just fall in love with them and decide to quit being a son of a bitch.. probably won't happen but i like thinking happy thoughts.

any recommendations for possible herbal/oil treatments? I'm a little bit desperate. pretty much every time i touch my head it hurts.. and when i bang it on something i'm usually in tears.

also wondering about the washing with baking soda.. is that necessary, and will it burn the crap out of my scalp? I'm assuming the salt water thing might hurt too.

baking soda probly will help, but before we even go there id try teatree oil and thyme
teeatree will be like an anticeptic cleanning out the pores and thyme will help reduce oil production
the bakingsoda will remove alotta gunk clogging em but the tingle on an already sore scalp might be too intence so lets try the herbs 1st
u may also wanna attack it with antiibiotic agents as much as i hate them

hmmm bcmomma what do u think of comfry (is that spelled right) as a salve to draw out all the gunk in the piumples?
comfry is used even in snake bites and scorpion stings to kinda wsuck out all the toxins and should work the same with puss filled pimples
i think what your dealling with isnt so much pimples though as its ingrown hairs? the hair gets doubbled yup in the pore it grows from and causes an infection that resemblies a pimple
options are , verty carefully have someone grab the offending hair with twweezers pulling ot out then treat the infected sore with teeatree and antibuiotics ..

screw the refgular dr try a dermatologist

as a last resort u may have em lance it

id hget this under control berfore dreading or it ior it will be nearly impossible to fix after..

try to part the hair get a real good closeup shot of what were dewlling with, but sounds alot like ingrown hairs are the real issue

do u wear tight hats alot that may cause it?

You probably should go see a dermatologist. GP's suck at diagnosing/treating problems reserved for specialists.

I'll do some research for you tomorrow; I'm too tired to be helpful tonight.
Donkey has a good point-GP's are wrong in their first diagnoses 75% of the time. See a specialist.

I totally misread the "sit" word in that sentence... that was a funny image :p

I'm sorry I should have been more specific... i saw a dermatologist about my scalp and everything he threw at me didn't work at all. I use a teatree shampoo right now that really isn't affecting my scalp. The thyme sounds good if it can reduce the oil in my hair.. it gets oily fairly quickly. i wonder if that is the cause?

oiliness will for sure cause zits probly not the ingrown hairs. so lets go with the zit thing as a prdiagnosis
use straight teatree ouil and a gaize pad or q-tip scrob the fuckers clean with the teatree it will probly stinbg if the poores open enouygh.. byut will help dry it out and kill bacteria
use the thyme as a tea rince to reduce the oiliness
try that doiung the teatree daily for a week if theres no imprivement we'll see about attacking it both externaly and internaly woth an herbal antibiotic , or non herbal if need be
the combo of reducing oils dryinbg and sanitizing and killing the bacteria will work.. just a matter of how much we gotta do to get ya there..id use the antibiotics especialy non herbal ones as a last resaort

i thinm the thyme to reduce oiliness and teatree to clean and disinfect and begin drying oyt out should do the trick..if theyre really puss filled ready to explosde a normal tea bag still slightly hit applied right to it can draw the crap to the surface making it easier

the meds the dr gave ya were antibiotics i assume? a creme or pills?

Maybe see a different dermatologist for a second opinion. Your situation doesn't sound very healthy IMHO. Other than that don't know what to tell you. Good luck nonetheless.

Here are some herbal remedies for acne. You may not see results right away, but if you continue to use the remedy as directed, you should see/feel results within 2 weeks.

Clogged pores: Put a large handfull of chopped fresh parsley into a bowl. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the parsley. Cover and let it steep until the liquid reaches room temperature. Strain and apply to your skin.

Acne treatment: Make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply to problem areas and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse with apple cider vinegar, then rinse with water.

Acne treatment: Apply fresh onion juice to the area. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse well. Use daily.

Acne treatment: Pour 1 and a half cups of boiling water over 3-4 tablespoons of dried thyme. Let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain and bottle the liquid. Use as a soak/rinse.

Acne treatment: Peppermint tea is a great astringent. Soak a clean cloth in peppermint tea and apply to problem areas.

Most important: drink lots of water and eat a healthy, balanced diet.

bcmomma, those are taken straight out of that book called "the herb book" right?
had to give mine to a homeopath that lost everything when he was arressted, so dont have it no more, but they seemed like they were direct quotes from that book...shoulda been named "the BEST herb book"
no other comes close to being as complete

No, some of them were taken from my text books and some were taken from Jude's Herbal Home Remedies and one was a remedy that my granny used.
