root canal

I'm getting a root canal soon, and i'm wondering if the dentist will give me laughing gas...also what (if any) prespiction will he give me for the pain? Because from what I hear this is going to be one knarly root canal...

 

i had a root canal a couple years ago...they just gave me some novacaine(sp?)

It didn't hurt all that much...there were 2 times during the procedure that I was thinking *ouch!* but otherwise I mainly just felt pressure..and heard drilling...

it sucks though cuz now I have a cap so my one back molar is never as white as my other teeth..

 

getting nitrous depends mostly on:

1. Does your dentist have any?
2. Are you requesting it?
3. Will they give it to you?

Pretty much in that order...even if they give you nitrous they will still be giving you novacaine, and possiblly some take home vicodins.

 

I'm pretty sure if you ask for it, you shall recieve. That's been my experience.

 

They gave me valium for the anxiety I had.
