The other day, a lady at the store commented on one of my tattoos. We got to talking, and she told me she's on the local roller derby team. We exchanged info, and I never heard from her until today. I've been invited to try out for the A'salt Creek Roller Girls! Anyone else into roller derby?

I would love to be in it. Right up my kind of intense scrappy sports alley.
But I would so end up with 10million broken bones. I don't heal like I used to.

I've always loved derby. It used to be a lot more fun back in the day. When they used to resolve fights via mud wrestling, or you'd have to hold hands and couples skate with your opponent to get out of the penalty box. It's still fun to watch though.

I'm already thinking up names lol.

    Bloody Holly
    Ally Capone
    Toxic Roxie
Bad Mama Jamma (I would likely play the jammer position)
    Roxie Balboa

I was really interested in trying out for Rat City Rollergirls in Seattle a couple of years ago. I guess I started to lose interest when people kept trying to convince me I'd be pulverized into smithereens. I'm still interested in it though, maybe I'll look into a league sometime in the future..

Yeah, you definitely have to be able to take some hard hits. Most teams do a "fresh meat rink" at your first practice to see if you can handle it.

Oh yeah. Go for it. Wish my daughter was into it---6 foot, 160 pounds of muscle and she does those workouts that are real fast(can't think of the name of 'em.) Loves me some rowdy women.

She would've made an excellent blocker. I'm only 5'2", so jammer for me! Jammers tend to get thrown around the most, but I'm quick to get up. :dizzy2:

    Yesssss! With black wheels though.

Lol, no. It's still kind of a cluster some times, but it's pretty organized now.

I'm totally into it, but would actually die if I ever played. I have a few girl friends who play in Austin, TX where it's really popular here and I envy them for skating around in fishnets while kicking ass. Unfortunately though it's not all looks...it's a sport, and me being 5'3 and just over 100 pounds doesn't help at all.

You should do it girl!!! You make sisters and it's an amazing community. In my opinion, it's the most uplifting feminine sport out there.
