OK guys and girls... are you a fan of retro gaming, and if so, how much so? What do you class as retro? The PlayStation? The SNES? Pacman?

Do you still own any retro consoles? if so, which? If not, would you like to? Tell us all about it here...

I love ALLLL the zeldas ('cept Majora's Mask kinda sucked)
but i REALLY love Bubble Bobble, Mario 3, Lolo, Q-Bert, Duck Tales, and Chip N Dale rescue rangers (all for NES)

whew ima nerd. spread the nerd love!

I'm a bit of a Nintendo Fanboy... have been for ages now... Although I'm a bit disapointed they are starting to loose the market to the evil likes of Sony (*BBBBOOOO HISS!!!*)... The only problem I can see it's their own fault...

Right now I own a GameCube (which I love like a baby), an Xbox (which is GREAT for online gaming), and my own DreamCast (which, alas, does not work very well right now... but still good, if you don't mind screwy graphics).. I have also owned a SNES, and one of each of the seperate GameBoys (original, pocket, colour, advance, SP).

As you might have guessed, I HATE Sony... and would rather die than own an PS2, but my sister has one, which I have used to play Final Fantasy with.

I believe the single best games franchise to date is The Legend of Zelda. I think that Link to the Past is the single best game, not only on the SNES, but of that generation of games (classic 16 bit 2D games).. a lot of modern games have a lot of trouble beating even. Loved Wind Waker, can't wait for the new Zelda game.

OK, sorry, we should stick with retro.. uumm, I used to play a Nao Geo emulator, loved the Metal Slug games :D

My family used to own a Mattel Intellivision

But alas, I've no idea what happened to it...
I rememeber we used to have another console, it had twiddle controls, but can't rememeber which one.

If you're all interested, you totally need to look into buying this book:

    Amazon.co.uk - Amazon.com

Lots of info about the history of video games... very good read... (I've got the first edition, I want to get the second :()

^^I both agree and disagree. You really have to look at the games when buying a console, and not the console itself. If it has alot of great games, buy it, cause that's what really matters. I agree though, about the sony thing. sony(SOE, spacificly(sp)) is a huge fucking money sink who's whole buisness revolves around ripping their customers off with cheap character balancing and over-expansion. Anyways, on to the topic at hand...

    I own:
    --SNES(used to own a superfamicon[IMG])
    --N64
    --Gameboy color
    --Sega game gear
    --Sega dreamcast
    --Sony PS2
--Trash-80(yes, I know it's not really a game console)(I'm trying to sell it, PM if you wanna know about it)

I feel like I'm forgetting something, maybe I am, idk.
Anyone ever play bomber man? I fucking own at that game, it's insane. Anyone see the video of the guy who finished super mario bros in 11 minutes? That's the equivalent of me owning at super bomber man. I used to have the game with the strip for four players and everything. Damn I miss that game. And psilo, unless you've got linux running on it, xbox blows.

OK yes, I agree with this... but only true classics such as Final Fantasy are enough to make me even think about playing on a PS2... And we all know the game would be just as good on the Cube or Xbox (heck, it would be better - better graphics

I've seen it, and I think it's fake.

I love my Xbox - GameCube is best for singleplayer games (Nintendos own titles that is), or for cool local multiplayer... Xbox is best for online gaming..

I really dont see how theres any competition in the current console market, X-Box just owns, playstation still has a better game selection, but look at all the cool stuff you can do to an X-Box, I host an FTP server on mine, not to mention browse the web, run linux, watch movies, play music, download games right onto it.. definitaley the coolest toy I've ever bought off of ebay

I've thought about that. With some games, you can run your pc faster, and it speeds up the speed of the game. I would'nt be surprised if you could do the same with a snes. I was'nt really asking if anyone had seen it, I was just using it as a comparison to my ownage of Super Bomberman.

Yeah man, I got something like that.... what's it called again? Oh yeah, My computer!

When I buy a game console, all I'm looking at are the games. Who gives a fuck if it can do all that when it can't play the game I wanna play. Of course, if it has titles you like, good for you. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself.

Yea I used to say the exact same thing, but the media center functionality is just amazing. And there's getting to be a better selection of games out there, not to mention that I can emulate every other console out there (save for games cube and the playstations)

Just an all around cool toy

Idk, maybe I'm being a little closed minded(note:sig heh). I just see it more of a novelty than I do a serious console(a modded xbox, that is). Everything i can do on your xbox, I can do on my pc ten times over. I don't know what I'm trying to say anymore.

PS: about the media center thing: my pc is my media center. I watch all my movies on here, I'm hooked through my stereo, so I listen to all my music here. I just don't see the apeal of a modded xbox.
