So far i've only found one really good restaurant here that is focused mainly on Vegitarians. The Mercury Cafe'. I hiighly reccomend it to all vegitarians out there. But if any one has any suggestions they would be apppreciated. ~Jen
"vegetarians" I remember it by this: veg Es not veg eyes. Wild Ginger Thai on Littleton Blvd. City O City, 13 and Sherman (light rail to downtown, shuttle to east end of 16th and cross over to the capitol. it's two blocks south)/ Masaala in Parker close to I 225. Jasmine on Broadway in North Englewood. Clarify you don't even have broth. Not too far from the Merc is Denver's best veggie burger at Welton Street Cafe. 27 and Welton. I also Like Jerusalem on Evans. there are also lists: http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/colorado/denver/index.html http://www.vegetarian-restaurants.net/usa/ColDenver.htm Most Indian places can handle a veg no problem and many will work with a vegan request. Qdoba's soup and both forms of beans, black and pinto, are veg. At Chipotle, only the black beans are, and I think their soup is chicken. Spicy Pickle can make an excellent vegan toppings sandwich. the bread is questionable. ETA: oh, heaven: look at this place: http://www.whollytomato.com/ I heard rumors of them closing & have yet to see, but a telephone number is on the site. the place sounds rad. Tokyo Joe's (local chain: Englewood has at least one at the light rail area on Hampden) has the Boulder Bowl. That's all you have to say aside from a sauce and all but one are vegan.
Where in Colorado? I don't live there, but I've road-tripped through all but the far northwestern corner love, mom
thank you drumminmama! You've been extremely helpful. and to just plain "mama" anywhere in Englewood, Denver, Littleton..places around there.
There's a yummy Mexican place most of the way up the mountain on the main (only?) road to Nederland - afraid I don't remember the name, but they have the BEST vegetarian burritos! (looks like it's a bit of a drive, but if you're in the area...) I know I've had some pretty good take-out smoothies & salads from Wild Oats (I think it was a co-op?) in the Littleton area. You have Chipotle out there too... I remember driving by several in & near Denver... they've got a vegetarian burrito that you can get with our without the wrap. That's my all-time favorite restaurant - and they're growing quickly! And if I remember right, there was a Fazolis in or near Littleton as well! They had all sorts of vegetarian pastas; kind of all based on the same 2-3 sauces, but they were good! And there was a WONDERFUL place in the middlish of Denver (between Highway 70 & I25) called Wholly Tomato that we went to once. Oh my gosh, they had the BEST cheesy mushroom & veggie wrap I've ever eaten! Definitely check them out! (edited to add) Duh! Should have read through Drumminmama's response more completely first! Hopefully they haven't left already, 'cause they were SO good! love, mom
mama, there are three ways into Ned: from Allenspark/ RMNP from gambling towns and from Boulder. The route I know best is boulder, but if you came from 70, are you thinking of the Sundance Inn? big porch with awesome views? the only restaurant I can think of enroute to Ned on 119/ Canyon is a wild game place.
I got to the restaurant after staying at Sundance, yeah. (cool motel; really quiet but REALLY expensive!) We'd travelled down from Boulder too - that was one "interesting" road! I pulled out my vacation journals & the name of the restaurant is "Wondervu Cafe" and... it's in Golden, along 72 - we found it on the way down the mountain to Golden, but I don't think that was a one-way road so I'm assuming you could get back up that way too. love, mom
