rescue dogs make really good pets thats because they are really greatfull to you about a year ago we rescued a ex racing greyhound he is so loving. but he is so safe and secure that he prefers to run around the backgarden then go for a walk if you let im off the lead he just runs back home. have any of you got a rescue dog love to hear your storys.
No rescue dog of my own, but as soon as it's possible I would love to adopt a rescue lurcher or greyhound. We met a really sweet one on holiday recently. She made a pretty good watch dog but would never harm anyone (just ran up barking, remembered us, then went off.) very happy to lounge around be petted for hours. Have two rescue rabbits now though. So yeah totally understand and suppourt the concept.
we had a rescue rabbit and a guinepig they were best of friends but sadly there gone now you should get the grayhound/lurcher they are fab companions.
A few weeks ago i resuced a little rat terrier/chihuahua mix from the shelter. i went to the shelter for some other reason, and i'd been wanting to rescue a small dog for sometime, but when i walked in lily was standing there on the counter and i just had to take her home. i can really see how happy she is now...she LOVES her life and she's happy to the point of being giddy all the time, which is nothing like how she was when i first saw her....she was lathargic and depressed and didnt speak a word for 4 days. but as each day went on she slowly was getting it that this was her home and she was never leaving. she's quite the charachter....so funny. i love her~ i'm glad i found her.....she is a fiesty little thing chews everything, digs up everything, is very needy of affection(she follows me everywhere...literally), and also has some aggression issues with my cat.....i can imagine that if someone else had seen her and thought she was cute, buying her on a whim, they'd have returned her to the shelter when they realized her behaviors. its sad that so many are really like that.....they think dogs are novelty items, there to entertain them and be "cute and cuddley" and then when they realize there is more to it, the dogs get the short end of the stick.......fucking people so yeah, im glad to have her with me.
We had 2 Greyhounds that were rescued... One had a poor mouth like they didnt take care of her but she was very sweet..... Thier names were Lady and Tabitha.... One day Tabitha was running around quite fast and suddenly fell and started crying....We took her to the vet and they said she must have gotton a blood clot....... We lost her that day....... It was very sad.........
