Doesn't this seem just slightly deceptive and pitiful?

The fact that they are bribing National Guard with $2,000 to help get new recruits is comical. This war is so fuckin ridiculous that citizens aren't even willing to fight for the government. Why not just pull out? Wouldn't that make more sense?

It would make more sense, but this administration isn't going to go there. Their kids aren't dying, and their investments are all doing well.

The lines I was reading, was a quick ship out program with a $20,000 bonus.
Sign in papers and your in uniform by the end of the week.
This may get a few more bodies, to an 18 year old, $20,000 is a fucking fortune.

Let me put it this way, if I'm put into a situation where I have to defend my life and the lives of my family and the people who I know, I won't hesitate to fight. But, why would I need to sign my life over to the government to defend what is mine? That shit doesn't even make sense. The World Trade Center didn't belong to me. Even IF (and its a HUGE "if") terrorists actually did destroy the WTC, what the fuck has that got to do with me? I've never even lived in New York. Why should I care? Shit like that happens every day all over the world, yet when it happens to the WTC (the center of all Capital Trade) it's a tragedy and an attack on my freedom? Capitalism didn't make me free. I have no stake in this shitty, fake ass Democracy they've created. I don't even believe in Democracy. Only a fool would buy into that crock of shit. I'll be free no matter where I am because I live according to my own standards, not some hypocritical politicians.

In my estimation, most people join the Army because they're scared of the real world. They don't have any guidance and they don't know how to manage their own existence without somebody telling them what to do and where to live and how to live. Thoreau was right, they join the Military to escape from their directionless life. People who have made a purpose for theirself and set goals . . . they'd see no benefit in serving in the Military.

Fuck that, I'm a free man. I don't answer to anyone.

And before some jackass says that I have my freedom because of the Military and people in the past fighting for it. That's horse shit. I can adjust to whatever system is around me. I was born free and I'll die free.
Lock me up in prison I'll be free, or chain me in a cave . . . I'll be free no matter where I am because I know what true freedom is; authentic freedom comes from within and no government, no politicians, no religions, nor institutions of any type can give me my freedom. I've already taken it.

they'll always be some idiot ready to get some money for doing something stupid, look at "jackass". who's the bigger idiot, the idiot or someone who listens to one?

in many ways it weeds out the idiots from the gene pool.

i suppose if the americans need some cannon fodder they can get them easily, after all this is one of the benefits of having so many poor people, they'll do anything for money and the chance to get "opportunity".
