what do ya think? yay for fake diamonds (uber high quality ones that require special machinery to identify), or are you only for real diamonds? dont care if youre straight up anti-diamond btw. not the question being asked im contemplating changing the ring i want as an engagement one to a really really pretty simulation diamond of high quality, much cheaper.... but its not an actual diamond so i dunno. http://www.diamondnexuslabs.com/jewelry/product_info.php?cPath=43_94&products_id=715 is the fake and http://charmdiamondcentres.com/product.cfm?argProductID=63&argParentID=1 is the real diamond... i dont know which i want, grr but beyond those, also discuss jsut what ya think of mined vs manmade diamonds!
The only diamond I own is a polar bear diamond because I know that no little kids legs got chopped off in order for me to wear it.
Me too Cate. I love to drag out my magnifying glass and look for the little tiny polar bear. Too much time on my hands, huh?
All real diamonds have blood on them, even Canadian. It is just the nature of the beast. Real diamonds are fine with me.
Ok so now I want to hear how Canadian diamonds have blood on them. Somehow I just can't picture some DeBeers guy hanging out at South Park School with a machete forcing little kids to the tundra. Dig little canadian kid! Dig!
If you do not believe people have been killed in the process of the initial diamond rush in Canada perhaps you should look at its history. Are you saying prospectors were not killed becase of claims? To say no one actually dies in the process of mining is slightly naive. Mining is a very dangerous business. All diamonds have blood on them it is just a question about how much. I am very familiar with the diamond business. Ekati is located 300 kilometers from Yellowknife, a region with a history of violent mining labor disputes. In 1992, an underground bomb during a mine strike there resulted in the deaths of nine workers who crossed the picket line, according to the CBC. Ekati produces 6% of the world's diamonds. ^^^^^^^^^^ This is one of hundreds of incidences. Plenty of people die in Canada for diamonds. I am also aware of human rights violations of Canadian companies in other countries. What they do in Central and South America makes me sick!
who the fuck cares. get the cheap one. while you're at it, go take a look in the mirror. you're gonna die some day.
You have got to be fucking kidding me?! I had a fit and had my husband spend a fortune for nothing?! I saw that Blood diamond article in National Geo and freaked. The repressive governments and all those legless kids. No thanks. So I did my research and was told Polar Bear diamonds were safe! Post what you have on them PLEASE because I'd love to read it. Geez is he gonna be pissed. LOL Maybe I just won't tell him. Shhhhhhhh. I love my polar bear diamond. Shit you just totally ruined my stone.
i would go with the cheaper one... my engagement ring was from here: http://www.stauer.com/search.asp?KWD=02JYDC&CatID=15 its super cheap and i got soooooo many compliments on it from everyone, especially older ladies, lol its spectacular in the light...its a "real diamond", just made in a lab. but it cuts glass and everything... yet its flawless, which not even most mined diamonds are..pretty cool. congrats, btw
without industrially created diamond abrasives, the geological exploration drilling industry wouldn't be where it is today. the best summer of my life was spent on a core drill out in the middle of no where in nevada. howling with the coyotes at night and looking up at a sky filled with more stars then you can imagine every time i drove the water truck out the the water hole to fill it to bring back to mix the 'mud' that lubricates the drill bits to make them last a little longer. the're still hellatiously expensive, but if the had to rely on only found diamond material, i doubt if they'd even be possible. =^^= .../\...
Wow, they're both really pretty. The only problem I have with the lab diamonds is that it's really difficult to find them in any jewellery shop. As in, a jewellery shop you can walk into, not an online one. And so far, I've not seen any UK jewellery shops selling them.
I'm sorry and call me a bitch...but I love real diamonds...no matter what, there can never be a replacement for a diamond in my eyes... And I feel like a bitch for saying that because you should appreciate what you get...but I just can't appreciate a fake stone. I'm very picky about the jewelry I wear as it is...so if I wear it, it's gotta be real EDIT: And the reason I want a real diamond is because my small jewelry collection is really all that I'm proud of.
