a kid who brought me flowers one night (he picked them from the school's campus hhaha... i'm sure we're not supposed to..), always calls me Rastafari, like a name. cause of my hair. but i made sure to let him know thats not my religion and that i do respect the followers, but my hair has nothing to do with them. i really don't think theres someone named that.... but i could be wrong.
yes I agree, I'm almost positive there isnt anyone named that, or atleast not named that that is affiliated with the creation or founding of the religion and is wlel known for it
I agree I never heard of him! Anyway ... I get that alot too, because of my hair. Just because a person wears locks does NOT mean they are Rasta. Like you said, I respect them with all of my heart, it is a very strict religion to follow ... but I find other people's ignorance offensive. Just like when someone sees the Ethiopian flag (red green and yellow) and calls it the 'Jamaican flag ... The 'red green and yellow' is actually the Ethiopian flag, and the green yellow and black flag is the Jamaican flag. I hate ignorance ... It's supposed to be bliss though ...
i had one guy talk to me about music. he asked what i like and i said 'i'm mainly in to classic rock right now" and he was all "oh yeah, i figured with the hair and all.. " and i looked at him kinda odd.. and he went "like bob marley and shit.." bob marley isnt even classic rock. lol though you gotta love bob.
Oh yeah, sista, I loooooooove Bob. He is not the reason I have locks though. People can be so ignorant sometimes! I have people make really stupid comments about smoking weed all the time ... apparentlly if you have locks you HAVE to smoke weed or somthing. I think some people need to educate themselves.
i apparently sell weed. lol those are the comments i get. haha. i kinda hate how the things i like fit the stereotypes of "hippie" and "dreadhead". its not something to do with wanting to be those things. I just happen to like the things. Like tie-dye. I dont like it cause its hippie. I like it cause its fun to do and each one is unique and beautiful.

no i dont sell weed! lol. i just get asked a lot. i "look the type" .. which makes no sense. my friend looks like a beatnik and is the main source for like half the school (it seems anyway)
I think Rastafari is cool but way too many people call themselves Rastas so they can have dreads and smoke herb. I thought about becoming a Rasta but I realized that the actual religion was not what I was interested in it was more so I could have a reason to smoke.
I'm no bigger a fan of black supremacy movements then white supremacy movments. Some good things came out of the rasta movment though. Like the Fugees. It is a black supremacy movment though, but it's so disorganized a lot of the time all that comes out is weed, dreads and bob marley, which I can appreciate.
