most of these questions actually have pretty complete scientifically-based answers.

Many of those questions are psychological in nature and have no objective answer. They are not the same for every person in the Universe. Unlike a scientific answer, which is the same for all members of the Universe, the answers to the OP's questions are individually answered and differ from person to person.

It doesn't make them 'superior' to science at all (I feel like I detect some sort of vibe in that direction), and as a scientist (well, mathematician, close enough...), I enjoy asking those questions, but I realize they are subjective queries and not objective realities.

Any many of the questions originate from stuff humans made up to explain things around them that arent actually necessarily real.

Matter is one of them, its just energy at a slower rate. A tree is just a bunch of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen atoms (and other stuff) spinning around themsleves and each other all just little subunits of energy locked up - and cos to us the tree looks static we call it matter

Time is another one - Time in itself doesnt exist, its just what we use to measure other things

Beginning of the universe - nothing to say there ever existed a beginning or an end - same as asking where the starting point of a circle is

Life - just cos billions of years ago some molecules linked together to form amino acids ultimately resulting in our complex brains and society, we think feel and fear - doesnt mean anything is actually alive - it all comes down to the rules of how carbon bonds with itself, nitrogen, hydrogen and other stuff

Well, why ask the questions then? Just make a thread with no questions, call it "God created everything" and ask a mod to lock it and sticky it. I don't understand how people can be so uncurious as to consider that statement an answer to anything.

Are you a scientist to tell us what science can and cannot answer? Have you tried to use science to answer any of these (or any other) questions before stating that science can't do it? Or are you just declaring by fiat that these questions are off-limits to science? Not so much that science can't answer them, but that science (according to you) isn't allowed to even try?

Whether or not science can answer these (or any other) questions - it can - isn't the point. The fact is that science makes a lot more headway on these and other "tough" questions than any other method, especially theology, which is what you seem to be advocating. Why don't you do a bit of research into theology's "answers" to these and other questions, so that you can see how spectactularly weak they are? At least when science tries to answer the "unaswerable" and can't due to lack of evidence or whatever, it doesn't have a default dogma to fall back on. Science is honest enough to say "We really don't know (yet), and here's why . . ."

Apparently he was formerly a scientist so he's qualified on everything and everyone else is not. But don't ask for reasons or answers to our questions - they're stupid because god is the answer, not science.

There's a whole religious forum section for those at odds with science and want to ramble on for countless pages.

I love how threads involving things like this always devolve quicker than the speed of light (little physics joke...) haha.

etkearne, you're saying there is no question as to the behaviour of the universe before the big 'shift' because we can't know?! : D Isn't the question all that remains of it?

Ha ha, care to elaborate at all? Add a little substance to your ridiculous little statement maybe? Maybe some grammar as well? If I was a writer as you claim to be in your sig, I would try to take pride in the language I used, but that's just me.
