I have a number of questions for God, but my biggest one is probably why God conceals himself so. To me this seems like the cause of much of our suffering. I oftentimes contemplate how wonderful and easy life would be if God simply spoke to me and told me what to do and what to say. It would make it a lot easier to do his will, and I can only assume he wants me to do his will. Is it too much to ask that being his child I receive his instruction? Why must it remain a mystery? If you have any questions you would like to ask God, or if you know the answers, then this is the place to post them.
So, basically, you want God to control every aspect of your life? What about Free Will? If God told you what to do and say for your entire life, you wouldn't be able to make any choices for yourself. You would only be a puppet. I don't think God wants us to be puppets. The way I look at it, I guess God is like a parent, I mean, you wouldn't tell your child what to do and say 100% of the time right? You lay down the ground rules, and then let them make their own choices... At least, I guess something like that. (I am not a devout Catholic or anything, and I have doubts, but I keep an open mind, I do believe there must be something, but for me the jury is out at to what it is..) And why would God conceal himself, herself, themselves.. I think the answer is pretty obvious. Imagine this, people relied on God to do everything for them, they wouldn't grow spiritually, or learn anything.. So I think that a big part of God giving us free will is so that we are free to grow and learn, and live our own lives. Because, what would be the point to have everything controlled? I mean, there could be a master plan, but I think the roads to get there are pretty varied and the final destinations we need to choose. This is a question for the ages.. However, I think a more pressing question I would have would be "Why".. Why all of this in the first place? What is the purpose? I find that a much more interesting question than the why God does not manifest for us to see... And a lot of people would disagree that God doesn't. The works are in a friendly act, a good Samaritan helping someone etc. Anyway, it's a LONG topic... :afro:
Depends on which school of thought you follow when talking about the dinosaurs. If it was a giant meteorite, volcano, ice age etc. I still find it hard to believe nobody knows for sure how the dinosaurs met their end. Lots of theories, but nothing solid? Something about that just stinks, considering how much time has been put in on the subject. :afro:
fuck you god progress takes too long then we die, fuck that dont be a pussy; control your own life. seriously though thinking about god too much will just slow you down its a fact of life. where are the middle easterns sense of reason and peace they certainly dont show it in a country that welcomes them. can there be a god if people on the same planet cant treat eachother kindly? thats my question bitch lol
I Have A Serious Question For Him. If Indeed He Truly Loves Me, As He Says He Does, Why Have I Still Not Won Lotto....??? Cheers Glen.
The classical answer is to sort those who have faith (belief in the absence of evidence) from those who merely believe in that which is evident. We are the cause of our suffering. It ain't God's fault (assuming he exists, which I do not). People are just evil, stupid and uncaring. And how dull it would be. As an agnostic, I want to make my own decisions. Believers want free will so that the choice to be "good according to God" is a difficult and complex one. None of us wants a puppetmaster pulling their strings. religious people will point you in various directions to receive such instruction. I merely posit this question: how would you wish others to treat you? Act accordingly, and you will be both ethically "good" and religiously compliant. ps Glen, the numbers are 3, 14, 18, 27, 32 and 38. The supps are 8 and 39
The dinosaurs survived for many hundreds of times longer than Home sapien has existed. Even if you start from Homo erectus, dinosaurs outlived "us" by a factor of more than 20 fold. They didn't meet their end all at once. Like many things, there was a complex of factors, including environmental changes, the evolution of mammals, changes in the amount of daylight, the coming of ice ages (and many other things) that led to their demise. The decline of the dinosaurs probably took longer than the entirety of the time from Homo anything until today (3+ million years). That's why it's impossible to say "AHA! Here is the cataclysm that killed off T rex and his dinner".
Do not be so quick to wish for it, because many of those who claim to hear God's voice do horrible things in his name.
For the people that do ~hear~ God. It's funny how God's will always seems to sound a lot like each individuals egotistical wills. A lot of conflicting 'wills' out there from one God... almost like there were millions of 'Gods' fighting with each other... Funny how that is, isn't it?
I don't think God speaks to anyone so if someone proclaims to speak in God's name I'd doubt them for sure. Anyway I fully agree with Ivory, the suffering that is caused by the lack of God's visible presence finds it's source in human behaviour and we would complain even harder if God would make its presence and will clear (which I don't think will ever happen cause I don't believe it aims to dominate our lifes by literal guidance or some prescribed set of morals).
We piped for you and you did not dance! The reason anything is not apparent is arbitrary measures or unreliable metrics.
