How long do you work on art? What i mean by that is when working on one piece thats very detailed(look at below picture)... Im asking because i KNOW i could do better if i just had patience. Im the type that sits down to draw and has to finish right then and there! so i take no longer then 40 mins. Anyways i attached a picture of somebodys art from deviantart.com that i really like, and would like to get at this level. i guess i just need to practice patience!;)

I usualy don't work too long on it..... Maybe 40 minutes or so as you said, but I like to try and do it all in one sitting because if I levae and come back I know it won't look the same.... I have all sorts of unfinished work because I'm afraid I'll screw it up if I try to finish it... Been a while since I've really been doing much sketching/drawing though...

i spend an average of 2 hours on my art......and that's just for the smiley faces you want anything more complex than that I'm gonna need a team and a few months.

i carry mine in a little book and do my pictures over a few days. But as mine are usually surreal and straight from my head then it doesnt matter too much.
However art like that i do like to do in one sitting however it can help to take a break sometimes and come back to it... the natural human attention span is about 20 mins :)

With my work it really depends on what I am drawing, but.. to do a picture like the one you posted i would take at least a week to do all of that, make the shading nice, first i would just start with the basic outline lightly sketching it and slowly addind details in every sitting. I think art is really about patience, the more patience you have with you piece the more you can do! If you want to do a drawing like this i encourage you to try it because i have tried myself and it ends up looking really good! good luck with your drawing !

i don't draw, but my friend does. he spends atleat 2 hours on anything he does. sometimes, i would see him draw all day in school even while classes were going on. he now goes to new england art institute.

i do photography. when i'm in the dark room, after the film is processed, i usually spend around 3 hours developing prints. i was usually the first one in the dark room and usually the last one to leave...

just more practice and more patience and you will get better. have fun with it...
