Like How can yall survive without like cheese or milk or chocolate. Its like milk from cows lol. Can yall explain to me or you just dont like meat but you like the other stuff from cows etc.. haha peace chickens
www.milksucks.com How can you drink the mothers breast milk from another animal? An animal that makes it's milk for it's babies,,not humans!
I happen to ADORE dairy products, and as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with eating/drinking them as long as you know the place it's coming from is humane and tend to their animals like they should. I don't get people's problem with eggs. We have 14 chickens, and they lay eggs no matter what. I happen to like eggs too much to let them sit out in the baskets and rot. As long as they're free range and not from tortured chickens, I don't see it as a problem. You can still eat things like cheese, butter, milk, and so on....just be sure where it's coming from.
um... so good luck finding a dairy farmer like that. unless u keep ur own cows too?? i stopped eating eggs because of the horrific treatment that even free range hens go through with the major distributors. plus the idea of eating chicken periods is gross. not to mention the health issues. oh, and chocolate is a vegan food. it comes from a cocoa bean. it only becomes destructive when sugar and milk solids are added to it. and i dont know about the other vegans around here, but i enjoy milk and cheese every single day....... the soy kind! the kindest kind!
They're very easy to find actually, as long as you know where to look. You can't just assume that since the product comes from an animal (like eggs, milk, honey) that it automatically means it was beaten and abused out of them.
I think most people's prob. with eggs, is that they don't have their own chickens. And any factory farmed egg be it free range or not, IMO is bad for the chicken. If you have your own chickens, and take care of them , and treat them with respect, then that's wonderful. I don't have that option.
How does a cow produce milk? Giving birth. If WE are drinking the calf's milk, what does the calf drink? Taking a baby calf away from its mother after birth IS abuse in itself.
Must admit I've never made a concerted effort to try going dairy free (really should, but it's going to be tough) Well anyway, substitute.... Milk: Soya/rice/coconut/oatmeal milk Cheese: Soya cheese Chocolate: Vegan chocolate, carob. Many brands of dark chocolate happen to be dairy free. TTFN Sage
i do assume that, because i know for a fact that where i live this is exactly what happens to them. I'm sure that's not the case everywhere tho. But even if they were treated like royalty, i still wouldn't eat it. it's all a matter of perspective and it's a personal choice. I dont pester vegetarians who eat animal products, so long as they know where it's coming from like you said.... but what i dont get is how they can still eat it, knowing where it's come from! If you keep your own hens, that's great and I applaud you for the initiative. But let me ask this - what do you think happens to all the rooster chicks that are born? there are just as many males born as females, and yet only the females seem to be of any "use" to us. Once again, sexism rears its ugly head http://www.chickenindustry.com/
Here is a thought. Actually came to me as part of a film. If anybody has seen the film snatch may recal the scene where Turkish was drinking a carton of chocolate milkshake and Tommy was telling him it was not in synch with evolution. There is a point to it. Matt
I got a private message saying stuff wow i wasnt being mean i was just curious what yall did. Oh i was just saying its not my fault i was raised eating this stuff. Im actually considering going veggie.......I wasnt trying to be rude to yall ok..peace love peace chickens
Oh believe me i KNOW all the shit they do to those poor animals just as well as you or sugrmag do. The first time i saw one of those dumpsters filled with little baby roosters i cried. We also have a chicken slaughter factory a few miles from here, and i have to see huge trucks drive by DAILY filled with hundreds of birds going to meet a horrible death. I hate what they do to cows and pigs just as much. All I'm saying is, not EVERY farm is like that, and not all of them keep their animals under such disgusting living conditions. All I am suggesting is that the people who aren't ready to give up their dairy products check out some of the brands that only buy from those sources. Most of them can be found in the 'organic' section of your grocery store, or a local farmers' market.
It's okay, people can get very sensitive around here. Good to know you're thinking of making the switch. This place can convert almost anyone. Might take a while (three months in my case) but it'll happen. TTFN Sage
