So as many of you know the girl from here that lived here for four months before disapearing owes me lots of money for rent and living expenses for the time she was here... I finally went over to her house and gave her her stuff today (she just contacted me recently)- the local community action program is paying her rent currently while she waits to recieve a years worth of disability money (from when she first filed for it)- she verbally agreed to give me a fair amount of money from when she stayed here.... well, tonight I decided "fuck it if I offend her, she's signing a note saying she owes the money"- and she did sign the note.

My question is... if this would go to court (and I really hope it doesn't come to that)- is just this signed note gonna be good or does it need to be notorized?

Well as long as it is small claims court your better off but it would have been even better to have it notorized obviously. If possible and she is willing you might desire getting it done. Also if she is using an attorney to get her $$$ you might wish to have her and you go to his office and sign you as a lien holder for money recieved.

actually it MAY be admissible in court.

When i was getting separated we made some agreements, and signed the paper through mediators, and they said you should not assume that the paper is binding, and you should not assume that it isn't

So, if I decide to get it notorized, does she have to go with me?

allowing someone to fuck you over, even a friend, is no good for friends, either.

as for the yuts, i guess i'd prefer warm weather and yurts. lol. durango has loads of yurts, too.

Click on that link on page one and you'll see. :)

I've always wanted to stay in a yurt also and an art studio in a yurt would be cool.... I'd like to have one for a place to smoke, meditate and write.

Sorry to say but yes she does, its so the notary can certify that the sigs on the paper are from the people they say they are. Both will need ID too.

The paper you have will most likely be allowed in court in small claims (depends on amount owed to you). The lien would be best against here check if she gets her disability. If she has an attorney or some other legal service trying to fight for her then if she is willing you can be made lien holder and when the $$$ finally arrives they get thier cut, you get yours and then a check is cut to her after your money is paid. As you might think I have been there before too trying to get paid.
