I didn't know where to put this exactly so I guess here is ok. Anyways, I was wondering what exactly causes different highs from various strains of marijuana. I don't mean different strengths... let me further explain. Some marijunana makes me happy, up beat, a little speedy, and hyper aware of my surroundings. Then there is the marijunana that makes me slow, disassociated, lost in my surroundings, sometimes very trippy. Before anyone even suggests that my weed was 'altered' in any way by amphetamines I am going to say this is simply not true. Idk if I am the only one that feels this or maybe it's common? This why I am asking. If someone can tell me a scientifical explaination for this, it will be appreciated. Or atleast let me know that it's not just me.

it can feel different each time

mayby its cause different stange have different potency count.. so a plant with more THC is going to get you higher..

I am thinking it has something to do with a mutation in the chemicals between plants that produce the different highs. I don't believe it has anything to do with potency b/c I am totally baked either way but the way I feel is on either of the far ends of the spectrum.

The two different types of cannabis produce different highs. One produces a body high while the other has a mental high. Different plants have a different combination of these factors. This could explain your different highs.

Yup, sativas and indicas give different highs, and different chemicals besides THC have a part in it too.

NVNC & paintballer got it right.

There are other things in pot that gets you high besides THC, lots of em.
The blend of these cannibanoids account for the different types of highs.

You know you can get different kinds of highs from the same plant depending on when you harvest it?
Harvest some early and some fully ripe and you'll get different effects.

Yup, thats because as the bud matures, THC production peaks then begins to degrade. and the other main cannabinoid, CBD, begins to make up a larger percentage of the active chemicals in the bud. Which produces the couchlock type of high. Harvest earlier, get a more cerebral, THC dominant high.

if you harvest early, you will get a headier and more uplifting high whereas harvesting late is more likely to give you couch-lock. there's a particular point when the pistols change color. on the early side they are white or maybe a tiny bit orange. on the late side they darken perhaps into a red color.

Thats true, but the more accurate way to judge is by looking at the trichomes themselves, which contain the cannabinoids. They start out clear, then slowly turn opaque, then amber. Mostly amber = couchlock, mostly clear = head high

I like feeling trippy and floaty more than speedy. This is why I ask so maybe I can differentiate from the two. Thanks for all the info, really helped.

By what they were saying it's held in the timing of the harvest, where the maturity of the chemicals differentiate between the different highs.

Super Silver Haze is good for that. I just smoked some dynamite the other day and I was super high but super alert and full of energy. You would probably like plants that are omstly sativa

also why do you want to be so alert, isn't that how paranoia comes into play?
